Nick Gatzke never planned to become a pastor.

Growing up, he struggled to connect with church. But at 16, everything changed when he began attending a Bible-teaching church.

🗣️ “The Lord just gave me a hunger for His Word.” 📖 🙌

By junior year, Nick says, 🗣️ “The Lord impressed upon me that I would not be satisfied doing anything but serving Him with my life.”

At Moody after he preached his first sermon, a profess asked Nick, “How are you going to like being called Reverend someday?” That conversation helped Nick recognize a call to pastoral ministry. ⛪

Today, after years of ministry Nick pastors Old North Church in Ohio where he’s seeing something encouraging among college students and young adults:

🗣️ “They’re asking questions… The Lord’s definitely doing something.”

Nick’s story is a reminder that God can take an unexpected beginning and use it for a purpose far greater than we imagined.

This week one of Moody's finest officially retired after 40 years of faithful service in higher education. 🥹 🏫 👏

"Doc Wash," as he is affectionately known on campus, served as our Vice President of Student Life and Enrollment. We will miss him and are grateful to God for his lasting legacy of guiding students toward becoming the individuals that the Lord intends them to be, as well as empowering them to make a significant impact for the Kingdom.

Our hearts at Moody are heavy after receiving an update from our local ministry partners in Nepal.

Recent catastrophic floods and mudslides along the Nepal–Tibet border have brought devastating loss to communities where we hope to begin serving many new Moody Global Campus students. Authorities report hundreds of lives lost and thousands more missing as rescue efforts continue.

As our local ministry partners assess the impact, we have learned that among the approximately 2,000 individuals we anticipated serving through Moody Global Campus this year, more than 80 are currently missing and at least 30 have lost their lives. We have also received reports of churches that have been damaged and congregations that have suffered heartbreaking losses.

Please join us in praying:

🙏 Pray for those who are grieving and families still waiting for news of loved ones
🙏 Pray for safety and strength for those responding to the crisis
🙏 Pray for our partners, students, and Christian leaders as they care for their communities
🙏 Pray that the Church in Nepal would be a source of hope, compassion, and Christ’s love in the days ahead

🎓 C O N V O C A T I O N 💙 2 0 2 6 🎓

Today was our Convocation Ceremony, an event where we welcomed new and returning students, honored our faculty and administration together in community, and consecrated our school year to the Lord. Students, faculty and staff representing our various campuses were present and we heard an edifying word from President Melson from Ephesians 5 on walking in Christ and stewarding all of life faithfully. Praying for transformation and spiritual formation in every heart this school year. To God be the glory! 🙏
