🚨 HATE HAS NO HOME IN CHICAGO 🚨

In response to the recent cross burning in Grant Park, Father Michael L. Pfleger and the Faith Community of Saint Sabina are taking a stand against hatred, racism, and intimidation.

The burning cross is not merely an act of vandalism—it is a historic symbol of terror, fear, and racial hatred. Such acts have no place in our city, our communities, or our nation.

To assist law enforcement in identifying those responsible, Father Michael L. Pfleger and the Faith Community of Saint Sabina are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved.

“We will not be intimidated by hate. We will not be silent in the face of injustice. We will continue to stand for peace, justice, and the dignity of every human being.” – Father Michael L. Pfleger

As people of faith, we are called not only to condemn hate but to confront it with courage, truth, and action. We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation.

Let this be a message to those who seek to divide us: We are stronger together. Love is greater than hate. Light will always overcome darkness.

The Faith Community of Saint Sabina remains committed to building bridges, pursuing justice, and creating a city where every person is valued, respected, and safe.

✌🏾 PEACE TAKEOVER 2026 ✌🏾

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

The central theme of the Peace Takeover is rooted in the Gospel of Matthew and the powerful call to be peacemakers in a world too often marked by violence, division, and despair.

As we reflect on the words of Rev. Michael L. Pfleger, we are reminded that peace is not passive—it is active. Peace requires courage. Peace requires presence. Peace requires a commitment to stand in the gap for our children, our neighborhoods, and our future.

Through the powerful lens and storytelling of Joseph Saunders, this video captures more than an event—it captures a movement. A movement of faith leaders, community members, families, and young people coming together to reclaim our streets, restore hope, and demonstrate that love is stronger than hate.

The Peace Takeover is a declaration that our communities deserve safety, dignity, opportunity, and healing. It is a reminder that every act of compassion, every prayer offered, every hand extended, and every life uplifted is part of the work of peacemaking.

Thank you to the Faith Community of Saint Sabina and all who continue to answer the call to be instruments of God’s peace.

Summer Peace Takeover 2026

Some moments deserve more than a photograph. They deserve a story.

Through the powerful lens of Joseph Saunders, the Summer Peace Takeover 2026 captured not only a rally and march, but a movement rooted in decades of commitment to peace, justice, and community transformation.

Hosted by the Faith Community of Saint Sabina under the leadership of Father Michael Pfleger, the Summer Peace Takeover serves as the official kickoff to the church’s longstanding Summer of Peace initiative—a legacy of anti-violence efforts that has impacted Chicago neighborhoods for generations.

This movement is built on a simple but powerful belief: violence prevention requires more than a response after tragedy. It requires proactive investment in people, families, and communities.

With special guest Chance the Rapper joining residents, faith leaders, youth advocates, and community organizations, the streets became a platform for a message that continues to resonate throughout Chicago:

🕊 Violence Prevention
❤️ Community Healing
🙌 Youth Empowerment
🤝 Neighborhood Unity
🚨 Public Safety Awareness

As Joseph Saunders documented the event, his camera captured more than images—it captured hope in motion. Every frame reflected a community determined to create opportunities for its young people and safer futures for its families.

The Summer Peace Takeover recognizes that public safety cannot rest solely on law enforcement. Lasting change requires:

• Economic opportunities for youth and families
• Mentorship and positive role models
• Safe and engaging activities for young people
• Mental health support and healing resources
• Strong family connections and community partnerships

These are the building blocks of safer neighborhoods.

From the prayers offered to the voices lifted, from the march through the streets to the conversations that inspired action, this event brought together the people and resources needed to strengthen Chicago’s South Side and surrounding communities.

Through Joseph Saunders’ storytelling, we are reminded that peace is not passive—it is intentional. It is a commitment. It is a movement.

And as long as communities continue to stand together, march together, and work together, hope will always have the final word.

🎥🕊️ When Communities Can’t Hear the Cry for Help

The powerful video documented by Joseph Saunders and championed by Father Michael Pfleger and the Faith Community of St. Sabina raises a critical question that every Chicagoan should be asking:

What happens when gunshots ring out, but no one knows where they came from?

For many communities impacted by gun violence, technology once served as an additional set of eyes and ears, helping first responders identify the location of gunfire when residents were unable—or afraid—to call 911. Since the removal of gunshot detection technology, concerns have grown that shootings may go undetected longer, delaying police response, medical assistance, and lifesaving interventions.

This is not about politics. This is about people.

It is about the mother waiting for her child to come home.

It is about the father praying his family remains safe.

It is about the young person whose life could be saved if help arrives minutes sooner.

The Faith Community of St. Sabina has long stood on the front lines of addressing violence, advocating not only for accountability but also for prevention, intervention, and community investment. Father Michael Pfleger has consistently challenged leaders to use every effective tool available to protect our neighborhoods while continuing to address the root causes of violence.

As we watch this compelling presentation by Joseph Saunders, let us remember that every gunshot represents a life at risk, a family impacted, and a community searching for answers.

Scripture reminds us:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” — Proverbs 31:8

We must continue the conversation about public safety, community trust, violence prevention, and the resources necessary to save lives. The goal is not simply to respond to gun violence—it is to prevent it, interrupt it, and ultimately end it.

Thank you to Joseph Saunders for documenting these stories, to Father Michael Pfleger for his unwavering advocacy, and to the Faith Community of St. Sabina for continuing to be a voice for those who too often go unheard.

🧡 PURPOSE OVER PAIN 🧡

June is Gun Violence Prevention Month, a time when we pause to remember lives lost, honor families forever changed, and recommit ourselves to creating safer communities for future generations.

At the Faith Community of St. Sabina, we understand that behind every statistic is a name, a face, a dream, and a family whose life was changed in an instant. Today, we honor the mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, and loved ones who continue to carry the memory of children lost to gun violence.

Through the powerful storytelling and visual presentation of Joseph Saunders, we are reminded that grief does not have the final word. His work captures the resilience, courage, and unwavering love of families who have transformed unimaginable loss into purpose and advocacy.

We are also honored to recognize Zarinah Lomax, CEO of The Apologues Center in Philadelphia, whose leadership directed the artists in creating these moving and meaningful portraits. Their work serves as a visual testimony of love, remembrance, and hope.

Special recognition is extended to Michael Doughty of Philadelphia, one of the talented artists whose brushstrokes helped bring these stories to life. Through art, memory is preserved, voices are amplified, and healing becomes visible.

The organization Purpose Over Pain continues to stand as a beacon of hope for families impacted by gun violence, transforming grief into action and loss into a movement for change.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

As we observe Gun Violence Prevention Month, let us remember those taken too soon, support those left behind, and work together to build communities where every child can live safely and thrive.

🕊️ For every child lost, we remember.
🧡 For every family grieving, we stand with you.
🙏 For every life touched by violence, we pray for healing.
✊ For every community seeking peace, we continue the work.

Because love remembers.
Because hope endures.
Because PURPOSE is greater than PAIN.
