This staged reading of King Lear by William Shakespeare is produced by Essential Invisible, in partnership with CIRCA Pintig, adapted and directed by Noella Bonsol. This production centers a Pinoy lens in its storytelling while celebrating a team of Asian-American artists.

King Lear is a tragic play about an aging king who decides to divide his kingdom among his daughters based on how much they profess their love for him. As relationships unravel and loyalties are tested, themes of power, family, pride, and justice come to the forefront. The story explores the consequences of misjudgment and the emotional toll of betrayal and aging.

Risen Christ, the Easter story is a reminder that nothing could contain you—no tomb, no body, no violent act. You are alive in the world, unfettered and beckoning us to follow. Lead me to the places you have called me to be. Show me where you’re headed. I want to be there, too. Amen.

Every morning the sun rises,
majestic and steady.
She is greeted
in all her strength
with the joyous cacophony of birdsong.
I like to believe
this holy chorus
is the birds telling each other—
I’m here.
We made it through the night.
You’re not alone.
What good, good news.
