A Gospel reflection for June 7th. (Gospel reflection by Claretian sister Paul Romeshi Logu, RMI.)
Today we stand before the greatest mystery of love the world has ever known. Not a love that remains distant. Not a love that merely speaks words of comfort. But a love that gives itself completely. freely, without reserve.
"This is my Body, given for you." In these words, Christ does not simply offer an idea or a memory. bur He gives Himself. The Eucharist is not merely a symbol of love; it is love made present — poured out for the life of the world.
The God who created the universe chooses to become bread. The Lord of all creation places Himself into human hands. This is the humility of God. This is divine love at its deepest: self-giving, sacrificial, and enduring.
Every Eucharist makes present the saving sacrifice of Christ at Calvery not repeated, but eternally offered anew for us. Today we do not simply receive bread and wine. We receive a Person, Jesus Christ Himself — His Body, His Blood, His life, His love.
So, let’s come to His table with faith. Come not as strangers, but as those who are known, loved, and called by name.
Amen
