Women gather at Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity Parish in Winnetka on Oct. 21, 2026, to play mahjong, sponsored by the Women's Guild.

What began as a small series of lessons for 12 women has grown into a monthly gathering that regularly draws more than 30 women, ranging in age from their 20s to their 80s.

Led by parishioner Jennifer Segall, the group welcomes women regardless of whether they belong to the parish or its Women's Guild. The emphasis is less on competition and more on friendship, conversation and creating a sense of belonging. (Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic) See less

Altar servers take part in the annual Polish Altar Servers gathering Oct. 7, 2026, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

Auxiliary Bishop Robert Fedek was the main presider for the Mass, and Father Marek Smoka, pastor, concelebrated which included a solemn introduction of the relics of St. Francis of Assisi to mark the Jubilee of St. Francis.
