Traditional Worship at 10am -- We get a glimpse of some of the struggles about leadership in the early Christian community. In last week’s gospel reading, Jesus praised his disciple Peter, calling him the Rock. This coming week, Jesus rebukes him for forgetting that the Christian life leads to the cross, calling him Satan. Come to hear this continuation of Matthew’s story, consider the struggles of faithful leadership today, and receive the life that only Jesus can give.

Rally Day Contemporary Worship at 10am -- In this gospel reading this coming Sunday, we hear that Peter received the “keys of the kingdom.” In our baptism, it is as if we too have received keys that open God to us and open ourselves to others. Contemporary Worship at 10am -- How could it be - that Jesus would walk on water? Jesus’ power over nature, his claim “I am,” and his rescue of Peter proclaim that Jesus is divine. The sea is our chaos, Peter’s doubt our own. With Peter we ask Jesus to save us, and with the disciples we acclaim him the Son of God. “Do not be afraid,” Jesus says both to the disciples in the boat and to the women at the empty tomb. Come to worship, to encounter Christ standing by you, no matter the storms, and to stand with others, to be the presence of Christ for them.

Traditional Worship at 10am -- In the gospel reading for this coming Sunday, Jesus feeds the multitude with only a little bread. Christians have seen the stories of the feeding of the multitude as pictures of both the proclamation of the word, by which God’s people thrive, and holy communion, in which the blessing of Jesus creates continuous food for his people. Jesus is still doing this miracle each Sunday. Come to worship, to hear this blessing and to eat the food that our Savior gives to us.
