Using Ancient Israel’s Women of Faith: A Survey of the Heroines of the Old Testament by Claude F. Mariottini, Pastor reminded us that women were never absent from God’s work, God’s witness, or God’s story.

Tomorrow, we honor mothers, but I want to take a moment to honor the woman who made motherhood so beautiful in our home.

Thank you for your love, your strength, your grace, and the care you pour into our daughters day after day. Thank you for the way you lead with tenderness, wisdom, and faith. Watching you love our girls is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I thank God for the gift you are to our family.

To my wife, I love you, I appreciate you, and I celebrate you.

And to our church family, I invite you to join us tomorrow for a special Prayer & Mother’s Day Service as we honor the incredible mothers among us and seek God together.

Prayer Focus: Releasing Expectation
Scripture: Ephesians 3:20

As we close this National Day of Prayer, we lift our expectation toward the God who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we ask or think.

Church family, I want to invite you to be with us for our National Weekend of Prayer.

We’re setting aside a few days to pray together, worship together, and bring some things before God that many of us have been carrying for a long time.

On Thursday, we’ll observe the National Day of Prayer with 13 hours of prayer throughout the day online.

On Friday at 6PM, we’ll gather in the sanctuary for The Release — a night of worship, intercession, and prayer at the altar. Come as you are. Bring what you’ve been carrying. Let’s lay it before God together.

Then Saturday at 12PM, we’ll meet for Community Prayer at Heritage Plaza, and Sunday at 11AM, we’ll close the weekend with Mother’s Day Worship & Prayer Service.

I believe this weekend is going to bless our church family in a meaningful way.

I hope to see you there.

It was a profound honor and joy to welcome my colleague and dear sister, the Reverend Dr. Gail Rice, to Third Baptist Church of Chicago for our annual Women's Day. What an incredible word she brought! Dr. Rice preached with unparalleled power and grace, truly uplifting every heart in the sanctuary. Her ministry was a phenomenal blessing to the women of Third and our entire church family. Grateful for your obedience to the call, Doctor!

One of the great blessings of pastoring is watching people faithfully serve the Lord and His church.

Our ministry leaders give their time, their prayers, their compassion, and their hearts to the work of Christ. Much of what they do happens quietly and without recognition, but their service strengthens our church and blesses so many lives.

I am grateful for each of them, and I believe it is important that we take time to honor those who labor in the vineyard.

On May 2nd, our Missionary Board will host a special Unity Through Prayer and Fellowship Brunch & Awards Ceremony, where we will celebrate and recognize these faithful servants.

I hope many of you will join us for what will be a beautiful afternoon of fellowship, gratitude, and encouragement.

Good Friday has always been one of the most sacred moments of the Christian journey for me.

It is the day we pause, reflect, and remember the price that was paid for our redemption. The cross reminds us that even in suffering, God was still working out salvation for us all.

Tonight is especially meaningful because we will gather not only as a church family, but in fellowship with Antioch Chicago and my pastor, Dr. Gerald M. Dew. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share in worship and reflection together as we remember the final words of Christ.

I believe tonight will be a powerful moment of worship, preaching, and creative expression centered on the message of the cross.

If you’re able, I would love for you to join us as we reflect on what Christ finished for us.

Tomorrow night, I’m looking forward to gathering with our church family for Maundy Thursday.

There is something deeply moving about this moment in Holy Week. Before the betrayal, before the cross, before the empty tomb, Jesus sat at the table with those He loved. He knew what was before Him, and still He chose love. Still He chose humility. Still He chose obedience.

That speaks to me in a fresh way every time this season comes around.
Maundy Thursday reminds us that real strength is found in surrender, that love is not just spoken but lived, and that even in heavy moments, God is still working His purpose. My prayer is that we would all take time to pause, reflect, and draw closer to the heart of Christ.

I’d love to see you tomorrow evening at Third.

This week, I’m praying we don’t rush past what matters. Holy Week calls us to pause, reflect, and make room for Jesus in a deeper way. I’m looking forward to worshiping together.
