Habakkuk is a powerful example of selflessness! 1:1 reads: The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. The prophet Habakkuk was heart broken over the suffering the nation of Judah and Jerusalem were experiencing at the hand of a powerful and wicked Babylon nation. He saw the injustice, lawlessness and wickedness and took this burden to God in intercession. Habakkuk unusual assignment was to take the pain and agony of the people to God. Not the assignment that his contemporaries had, their assignments were to take God's message to the people. Habakkuk unusual assignment also call for an unusual heart.
Habakkuk means: "embrace" or to "press to the heart" Habakkuk took his nation to his heart, comforted it and held it up, as one embraces and presses to his heart a crying child, calming and consoling it with hope.
This type of intercession moved God to reveal to Habakkuk his plan for Judah and Jerusalem. God said: "Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days...You would not believe if you were told..."
Later God continued and said: "Record the vision and inscribe it on tables, that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal, and it will not fail."
Let us be unselfish and have a heart for our nation. Let us intercede for a end to this virus and a stop to the pain and agony that it has caused. Let us intercede for a end to the wickedness of racism and the tentacles of social injustice it unleashes in our nation. Let us move God with our hearts, to embrace a nation and a world in pain.
LET THE HABAKKUKS' INTERCEDE!
