I have studied demonology for many years, and I encourage people to study the spiritual and historical connections between horoscopes, astrology, demonology, and demons.
Most people casually say, “I’m a Pisces.” “I’m a Cancer.” “I’m a Scorpio.” “I’m a Taurus.” “I’m a Gemini.” They may read their horoscope, accept personality descriptions associated with that sign, and never investigate the spiritual history behind the system.
One ancient manuscript I have been studying is The Testament of Solomon.
In this text, Solomon encounters 36 spirits associated with the 36 decans of the zodiac, three connected with each of the 12 zodiac signs. Solomon asks them what they do, and they answer.
What caught my attention is that they are not describing cute personality traits. They describe afflictions involving the mind, body, marriage, household, relationships, health, conflict, and destruction.
Here is what the text records, followed by a plain-language explanation so you can understand the patterns being described.
♈ ARIES, Spirits 1–3
What the spirits say:
They afflict the head and forehead, cause migraine pain, and seriously injure the eyes.
The pattern described:
Headaches, migraines, recurring pain or pressure involving the head, and affliction involving the eyes and vision.
♉ TA**US, Spirits 4–6
The surviving text has a gap where the fourth spirit’s description should appear.
What the remaining spirits say:
They cause blockage of the ears, deafness, swelling of the parotid glands, inflammation of the tonsils, and severe muscular rigidity.
The pattern described:
Hearing problems, blocked ears, swelling around the jaw and neck, throat and tonsil problems, and severe stiffness or muscular constriction.
♊ GEMINI, Spirits 7–9
What the spirits say:
They weaken the shoulders, cause trembling, paralyze the nerves of the hands, injure the neck and bones, and one says, “I distort the hearts and minds of men.” Another causes severe intestinal pain.
The pattern described:
Weakness, trembling, nerve and hand problems, neck affliction, physical deterioration, abdominal pain, and, significantly, disturbance of the mind, thinking, judgment, or inner disposition.
♋ CANCER, Spirits 10–12
What the spirits say:
They cause kidney pain. One declares, “I create strife and wrongs in men’s homes,” and produces a hard temper. Another inspires people to take sides against one another and delights in causing them to stumble.
The pattern described:
Kidney problems, constant conflict within the household, anger, hard attitudes, division, people taking sides, instability, and destructive behavior within relationships and family life.
♌ LEO, Spirits 13–15
What the spirits say:
They cause nervous illness, shivering attacks, torpor, cold, chills, and stomach pain.
The pattern described:
Nervous distress, trembling, numbness, sluggishness, weakness, recurring chills, and stomach affliction.
♍ VIRGO, Spirits 16–18
What the spirits say:
They cause severe fevers, stomach attacks, convulsions, and cause people to fall down. The eighteenth spirit specifically says, “I separate wife from husband and bring about a grudge between them.”
The pattern described:
Severe physical distress, stomach problems, convulsions or collapse, and, relationally, resentment between spouses, marital hostility, separation, and disruption of the marriage relationship.
♎ LIBRA, Spirits 19–21
What the spirits say:
They afflict the knees, cause persistent fever, coughing, and difficult breathing in children.
The pattern described:
Knee and mobility problems, recurring or stubborn fever, coughing, respiratory difficulty, and problems involving breathing.
♏ SCORPIO, Spirits 22–24
The surviving text has a gap where the twenty-second spirit’s description should appear.
What the remaining spirits say:
They cause kidney pain, difficulty urinating, and pain involving the ribs and lower-back muscles.
The pattern described:
Recurring kidney and urinary problems, rib pain, lower-back pain, and physical affliction around the lower portion of the body.
♐ SAGITTARIUS, Spirits 25–27
What the spirits say:
They cause burning and fevers in the internal organs. One says, “I steal away men’s minds, and change their hearts,” and says it makes a person toothless. Another causes wasting disease and hemorrhaging.
The pattern described:
Internal burning and fever, mental disturbance, changes in thinking or disposition, deterioration and loss of teeth, wasting of the body, weakness, and serious bleeding.
Notice that this is not only physical. The manuscript specifically describes interference with the mind and heart.
♑ CAPRICORN, Spirits 28–30
What the spirits say:
One causes sleeplessness. Another causes what the older translation calls uterine mania and pain in the bladder. The thirtieth is associated with choking from a swallowed fish bone.
The pattern described:
Persistent sleeplessness, agitation, affliction involving the reproductive and bladder areas, pain, choking, and physical obstruction.
♒ AQUARIUS, Spirits 31–33
What the spirits say:
One causes lingering disease. Another says, “I paralyze muscles and contuse them.” The thirty-third says it lies among swaddling clothes and in the precipice.
The pattern described:
Illness that lingers or refuses to leave, muscular weakness, paralysis, bruising and bodily injury.
The statement concerning swaddling clothes and the precipice is obscure in the surviving text, so I will not manufacture an interpretation that the manuscript itself does not clearly provide.
♓ PISCES, Spirits 34–36
What the spirits say:
One says, “I cause grudges and fighting.” Another says, “I cast evil eye on every man.” The final one declares that it has a grudge against the human body, lays houses waste, causes flesh to decay, and does other similar things.
The pattern described:
Persistent grudges, resentment, fighting, conflict, destruction affecting the body and household, and physical deterioration.
The evil eye is an ancient concept associated with harmful spiritual influence, envy, curses, and what many people today would recognize as an occult or witchcraft-related attack.
🚨This is why I always say: study before you agree.
Most people were introduced to the entertaining version of astrology, personality traits, compatibility, romance, predictions, and daily horoscopes.
But how many people have studied the historical spiritual system behind the identity they repeatedly declare?
My concern is not simply the month you were born. You did not choose your birth date.
My concern is what you accept, agree with, consult, speak over yourself, and make part of your identity.
When you say, “I’m a Pisces,” “I’m a Sagittarius,” “I’m a Gemini,” and then begin accepting everything that system tells you about who you are, I believe you should first understand what you are coming into agreement with.
Look beyond the zodiac name.
Look at the patterns described, conflict, resentment, division in homes, marital separation, distortion of the mind, sleeplessness, bodily deterioration, sickness, and destruction.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6
