Rust College Student Deon Wright II Participates in Mississippi Digital Humanities Residency Internship

Rust College rising junior Deon Wright II is gaining valuable experience in digital preservation, research, and community-based humanities work through the Mississippi Digital Humanities Residency Internship at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The program provides hands-on training in digitization and digital humanities, allowing participants to identify, digitize, analyze, map, and preserve historical and cultural collections that reflect the stories of communities throughout Mississippi.

“This opportunity has allowed me to learn how digital tools can be used to preserve history and make information more accessible to others,” Wright said. “Through digitization, mapping, analysis, and electronic preservation, I am gaining skills that can help communities preserve and better understand their history and experiences.”

Wright’s participation reflects Rust College’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful academic, professional, and service-oriented opportunities.

Rust College congratulates Deon on this outstanding achievement and commends him for representing the College through scholarship, service, and a commitment to preserving history for future generations.

Please see the attached flyer regarding a program SGA's President, Savannah Thomas and her executive board has asked for the RCIAA to partner with them on.

This is an excellent program that will build relationships with our alumni community and also assist with retention efforts.

If you have any questions please contact Savannah or RCIAA President directly. Right now, we need interested persons to be intentional about building these professional relationships with our new students.

Data will be collected on the progress of this program. We want to ensure success!!!
