“…each one of us is called to understand that in our prayers of petition to the Lord we must not expect an immediate fulfillment of what we ask, of our own will. Rather, we must entrust ourselves to the Father’s will, interpreting every event in the perspective of his glory, of his plan of love, which to our eyes is often mysterious. For this reason we too must join in our prayers, petitions, praise and thanksgiving, even when it seems to us that God is not responding to our real expectations.” Pope Benedict XVI

O God, early in the morning I cry to you. Help me to pray and to concentrate my thoughts on you: I cannot do this alone. In me there is darkness, but with you there is light. I am lonely, but you do not leave me. I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help. I am restless, but with you there is peace. In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience. I do not understand your ways, but you know the way for me... Restore me to liberty, and enable me so to live now that I may answer before you and before me. Lord, whatever this day may bring, your name be praised. (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)

"We are all "beneficiaries" of the fall by our original parents, so our need for healing runs rampant through our bodies and souls. This being said, of course, we have no need to fear this great disconnect between our wounded selves and our "intended" selves..."

We look to you, St. Peregrine, as a mighty wonder worker because of the miracles obtained through your intercession for the people who have recourse to your kind and powerful prayers. For many years, your body was afflicted with a cancerous disease. When the power of man could help you no longer, you were graced with a vision of Jesus, leaning down from the cross, touching and healing you. Trusting in your compassion and powerful intercession, we ask your prayers for our ailing brothers and sisters. May the saving power of God, Father, Son, and Spirit, fall upon all our sick friends and relatives. May it be accompanied by the healing they desire and for which we pray. Intercede for us, dear St. Peregrine, that we may be thankful for every healing, favor, and blessing from the Lord who is glorified in his saints. Amen.

"...But healing isn’t always forward motion. Sometimes healing is simply sitting still in God's presence, even as the ache remains. God is not in a hurry to heal us the way we expect, but He is fiercely present as He forms something deeper..."

When healing feels slow, you're not falling behind. Learn why the real miracle is staying in the room with God when everything in you wants to run.

"Blessed the man who has concern for the poor. In time of trouble, the Lord will rescue him. The Lord will guard him, give him life, and make him blessed in the land… The Lord will help him on his bed of pain; you will bring him back from sickness to health.” (Ps. 41)

St. Peregrine believed in the power of the Christ who saves, and on his bed of pain faced with serious illness, took refuge in prayer before an image of the crucified Christ. He fell asleep and while asleep he saw Jesus, the Savior, come down from the cross and touch his diseased leg, healing him at that moment.

O Lord, we ask you, through the intercession of St. Peregrine, to come down once again to touch and heal us, our loved ones and friends who are suffering. Give all your strength, hope, and peace. We also pray for those you have called to continue your mission to the sick. May their words speak your comfort, their presence reflect your compassion, and their hands your healing. You live and reign forever and ever.

Hail! Bread of the Angels, broken,
for us pilgrims food, and token
of the promise by Christ spoken,
children's meat, to dogs denied!
Shown in Isaac's dedication,
in the Manna's preparation,
in the Paschal immolation,
in old types pre-signified.

Jesus, Shepherd mild and meek,
shield the poor, support the weak;
help all who Thy pardon sue,
placing all their trust in You:
fill them with Your healing grace!
Source of all we have or know,
feed and lead us here below.
grant that with Your Saints above,
sitting at the feast of love
we may see You face to face.
Amen. Alleluia.

Lord Jesus Christ, we worship you living among us in the sacrament of your body and blood. May we offer to our Father in heaven a solemn pledge of undivided love. May we offer to our brothers and sisters a life poured out in loving service of that kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

It's humbling to be weak physically, to be seen as weak, and to be seen as someone who needs help. Being in this position has exposed things in my heart that I didn't realize had somewhat of a stronghold on me. I don't like to be seen as weak or needy. I want to feel strong and independent. God has his ways of using our physical weakness to show us how weak we really are in every way and how much we need Him...

Today in our prayer, let us remember the little ones who are suffering and ask the Lord to hold them close...

Then people brought little children to him, for him to lay his hands on them and pray. Mt 19:13

Lord Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, you are our brother. You experienced childhood in the company of other children in a hidden life of family obedience. You knew the weakness and fragility of every infant. When you announced the Kingdom of Heaven, you revealed how the Father has special love for children, the little ones, and for the humble. You healed the daughter of the woman from Greece, and you called back the son of the Widow of Nain from the sleep of death. Look lovingly on all children who are sick, as we pray to you with love, trusting in the intercession of St. Peregrine.

Send forth your healing Spirit of Life upon these innocent ones that they may regain strength and good health, with renewed brightness in their eyes and a smile on their lips, able once more to be at play with friends. May these children of yours, and all who love them, come to give you thanks for your goodness, and glorify your name for your mercy. This we pray to you, Lord Jesus, who live and reign forever and ever.

Today, I am cancer-free. My journey was not just about battling a physical illness, but about discovering the depths of my faith and the power of surrender. I learned that true peace comes from trusting in God’s plan, from knowing that we are never alone and that His love transcends all suffering...

St. Peregrine, you have left us an example to follow. As a penitent, you were humble in acknowledging your sins before God. As a Servite friar, you were faithful in fulfilling your commitments. As an invalid, you were patient in bearing your illness. Intercede for us through Jesus Christ so that we likewise may be humble, committed, and patient. Brother Peregrine, God’s holy people have asked for your aid in the past. Likewise, we now call to you. Our sufferings are great and we need your support. Through your prayers, may God the Father, through Christ his Son, lighten our burdens so that we may once again praise Him as we should…

Lord God, Almighty Father, you made the earth and all within it. You sent Jesus to redeem it and make all people your children. Through the Holy Spirit, you continue the work of reconciliation throughout the ages, raising up saints in your Church as models for us. Together with them, and especially St. Peregrine, we look at our world: let us remember the Holy Father, the pastors of dioceses and parishes, the religious orders and missionaries who carry the Good News to the ends of the world. Let us embrace in our thoughts the sick of the world, the dying who hope in your promise. Let us be compassionate to the wayward prodigals who wish to return to their Father’s house but are weary and afraid. Keep safe the brave men and women of the armed forces who defend us with their lives. Look upon the simple people who desire to better their lives and grow closer to you. Be merciful to us all, Father, and grant us peace. We ask this through Christ, our Lord and our Brother. Amen.
