CIOGC hosted a Community Town Hall with Mayor Brandon Johnson, bringing together Muslim community leaders and residents for an opportunity to engage directly with the Mayor and his administration.

The conversation focused on issues and concerns affecting the Muslim community, such as housing, discrimination and hate speech, public transportation, etc. with community members and organizations such as NIA, ICNA Relief, Masjid Al-Farooq and many others also having the opportunity to submit questions and share what matters most to them.

We appreciate Mayor Johnson and his team for making time to hear directly from our community. We look forward to continuing this dialogue and strengthening the relationship between the Muslim community and the City of Chicago.

This year tested our community in ways no one expected.

But when people needed support, we showed up.

We stood beside our community during difficult moments. We distributed Know Your Rights Red Cards in multiple languages. We launched awareness efforts so families could better understand their rights, protect themselves, and know what steps to take when facing uncertainty.

And we are not stopping here.

We will continue to educate.
We will continue to support.
We will continue to advocate.
We will continue to stand with our community.

Because being there for our community is not something we do only when it is easy. It is a commitment.
