BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO 13.1 MARATHON
The Bank of America Chicago 13.1, Chicago’s West Side half marathon, is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026. The 13.1-mile course starts and finishes in Garfield Park with loops through Douglass and Humboldt Parks.
Below is information about the event's street closures and parking restrictions:
Schedule of Events
• Sunday, June 7: Chicago 13.1 half marathon running through Garfield Park, Douglass Park and Humboldt Park; Race Day Festival in Garfield Park
No Parking Zones and Street Closures
The most extensive street closures along the Chicago 13.1 course that will take place on Sunday, June 7. There will also be street closures within Garfield Park starting Wednesday, June 3 to Monday, June 8. No parking zones along the course will be enforced in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 7.
• No Parking Zones on Sunday, June 7:
- No parking is allowed on the half marathon course.
- Towing of vehicles on the course will begin at 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
• Street Closures on Sunday, June 7
- Streets along the course will close to traffic, 5:30 a.m.-11 a.m. as runners pass through.
I-290 Independence Boulevard exit closure
The Independence Blvd. exit from I-290 will close to traffic between 5 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. We encourage you to use the following directions to reach Garfield Park and the surrounding areas during the exit closure. Street closures will also affect east-west travel through Garfield Park and the surrounding neighborhoods. When reviewing the instructions, use the directions that match whether you're heading to the east or west side of the park.
Eastbound I-290:
- East of Garfield Park: Exit at 26B (Homan Ave.). Turn right (north) on Homan Ave.
Westbound I-290:
- East of Garfield Park: Exit at 27A (Sacramento Ave.). Left (North) on Sacramento Ave., Left (East) on Madison St.
