Today's devotion reflects on Isaiah 40:28-31: "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted, but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

"Have we not known? Have we not heard? The promise of the prophet Isaiah is this: God renews our strength. God raises us up. With God's power and protection, we mount up on wings like eagles. We soar! We are lifted and carried by the One who created us and loves us beyond all measure."– Jeanne Bishop https://conta.cc/4dzKhDZ

Today's devotion reflects on Isaiah 40:3-8: "A voice cries out: 'In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken'..."

"It can be hard to hold to a broader prophetic vision of hope, particularly when all the evidence around us screams to the contrary. But even in times of challenge, even where our way forward is unclear—God nonetheless guides, inspires and prods us forward."– Matt Helms https://conta.cc/4nYElIi

Today's devotion reflects on Matthew 28:16-20: "Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'"

"Perhaps this small addition is a gift to us—a reminder that even those who first experienced the risen Christ also experienced a moment of doubt. And, it turns out, it was literally just a moment. According to my Greek commentary, the word translated as 'they doubted' means a 'momentary hesitation of the heart—a split-second wavering that interrupts wholehearted trust.'"– Amy Pagliarella https://conta.cc/4dPBUDe

Today's devotion reflects on Ephesians 6:18-20: "Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak."

"Thinking about these things, I realize I am not bound by the devil’s caricatures cavorting across the mediascape. The sword of the Spirit can liberate me to lean into eternity and pray for the present from a point in the future. I have no reason not to pray for any saint, seeing as how we’re already and not yet friends.” – Jeanette Chung https://conta.cc/3PfGqTj

"The church does not live for itself but rather exists for the world.”

In this clip from this past Sunday’s Pentecost sermon, Pastor Joe Morrow reminds us that faith is a miracle meant to be shared. Because of that, we are called to meet our neighbors exactly where they are. For those who need food and shelter, we speak the language of housing and bread. For those who need community, we speak the language of presence.

Listen to Pastor Joe’s full message on how we can cultivate equal voice, worth, and dignity in a divided world. Pop in your earbuds and listen to the full sermon on our Sunday Sermon podcast! 🎧👇

Today's devotion reflects on Ephesians 6:10-17: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms..."

"Paul chose garments and other items of the era to represent how humans should prepare for the strenuous life of following Christ. By using everyday things as spiritual symbols, I feel that Paul makes it clear that those who follow Christ can literally wrap the love of God around us as we lead our spiritual lives.” – Betsy Storm https://conta.cc/4urbFdg
