At COS, love is sacred! Tell us why you celebrate with PRIDE this month in the comments below...

God of all Creation, you have made us in your image, a rainbow of every color, culture,
gender expression, language, orientation, and nation; grant that, when we look at one
another, we may see You, expressed in yet another language of love; and grant that we may honor your holy presence in every life. We pray because of Jesus, who shows us the way. Amen.
(The Rev. Kay Sylvester, the Diocese of Los Angeles)

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. -The Book of Common Prayer, 228

Memorial Day was originally established to honor the fallen Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. Originally called "Decoration Day", the holiday was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868.

God of the oppressed and the liberated,

On this day of remembrance, we lift our hearts in solemn gratitude for those who laid down their lives in the struggle against tyranny and bo***ge. We honor the soldiers who fought to break the chains of chattel slavery, the abolitionists who risked everything for the cause of emancipation, and all who continue to sacrifice their comforts and lives so that others might breathe the air of true freedom.

Grant wisdom to the nations of the world so that conflict may end, justice prevail, and peace may grow where violence has taken root. Through Jesus Christ, whose peace is without end.
Amen.

On this Mother's Day we reflect on and pray for:

All our mothers,those living and those who have passed away;
For the mothers who loved us and those who fell short of loving us fully;
For those who hope to be mothers one day and for those whose hope to have children has been frustrated;
For mothers who have lost children;
For all those who have been in mothering roles;

May our hearts reflect Gods eternal and unconditional love for those who experience Mother's Day with both grief and joy through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
