NewStory Chicago

NewStory Chicago Our vision is simple: Everyone finding home in God's story Joining God to write a new story of healing and transformation. What is NewStory?

Worship Services are held on Sundays at 11:30am. These services are recorded from our location at Granville Ave UMC and livestream on both Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, every 5th Sunday of the month (roughly 4 times per year) we serve the community through various projects in our local neighborhoods. These "Service Sundays" occur in lieu of regular worship services. NewStory is YOUR story! T

here has never been another person like you. Who you are–what you love, how you laugh, what you grieve–has been created by God to make God known in a way that no one else can. God invites you to live into this new story, which is made possible through Jesus. NewStory is OUR story! We are a group of people from many different places. We have taken up the hard work of reconciling to one another across all of the barriers–race, age, gender, social, economic– that divide us. God is writing a new story among us where these divisions are being replaced by trust, honesty and authenticity through the power of the Holy Spirit. NewStory is a GLOBAL story! We live in a world that is not how God originally intended. Instead of a world of connection, trust, and belonging, our world is too often defined by power, privilege, oppression and hostility. God has invited us to join God to make Jesus known as God writes a new story in the city of Chicago and around the world. A great way to get involved is to find us on https://churchcenter.com/setup. NewStory is proud to come along side neighbors, students, and other community organizations to take part in the May Day protests across the city for International Workers’ Day. The gospel teaches us that all people are created in the image of God, deserving of dignity and respect. While administrations and corporations continue to prioritize profits over people and monetize Earth’s natural resources, we will keep striving to see a more equitable world, one where all people are valued and cared for regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
