Proverbs 19:3 (NIV)
“A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord.”
This verse speaks directly to a pattern we often see in life, and sometimes in ourselves. Many times, our greatest struggles are not caused by God, other people, or bad luck, but by choices made without wisdom. Folly is living apart from God’s truth, ignoring instruction, rejecting correction, and following emotions or desires instead of discernment. Yet when the consequences come, the human heart often turns its frustration towards God.
Instead of asking, “What went wrong in my thinking or decisions?” we ask,
“Why would God allow this?”
The problem is not that God failed us, the problem is that we want comfort without correction and blessing without obedience.
God’s Word is clear! His wisdom is meant to protect us, not restrict us. When we reject wisdom, we step outside of that protection. And when life falls apart, blaming God only hardens the heart and delays healing.
Here is the Truth:
1. God is not the source of chaos.
2. God does not ruin lives, folly does.
3. Taking responsibility opens the door to repentance, growth, and restoration.
When we stop raging against the Lord and start submitting to His wisdom, we don’t just avoid ruin, we begin to walk in peace.
