Rev. E. Suzanne Wille, rector of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Chicago, has been on the front lines of the city’s response to last fall’s “Operation Midway Blitz” — joining neighborhood rallies and signing open letters, including one strikingly titled “Jesus Is Being Tear Gassed at Broadview,” referring to the ICE detention facility in a western Chicago suburb. bit.ly/3QlwQ12

After a parishioner called her to the largely Hispanic neighborhood of Logan Square following an ICE operation, Wille described arriving to find residents “circling the school, trying to protect the students,” doing what she called “emotional triage on some type of battlefield, right here in my own city.”

“I feel like we are chasing ghosts.”
