Christians in Nigeria faced a second consecutive Palm Sunday massacre in 2026, yet major mainstream media outlets largely ignored the religiously-motivated slaughter that claimed dozens of lives in what local officials are calling a calculated genocide.
Gunmen on motorcycles stormed the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North, Plateau State, on Palm Sunday 2026, killing between 20 and 40 Christians. Eyewitnesses reported attackers shouting “Allahu Akbar” while opening fire on worshippers and residents. This attack followed a nearly identical massacre on Palm Sunday 2025 in Zikke village, where 54 Christians were killed and 103 households destroyed. The coordinated timing of these attacks on Christianity’s holiest days reveals a disturbing pattern that local leaders say is being deliberately ignored by international media outlets.
