Immanuel Evangelical Covenant Church

Immanuel Evangelical Covenant Church a diverse community living out the good news of Jesus Christ Immanuel ECC was planted by Swedish immigrants in 1923.

By God’s grace we are called to be Immanuel, God with us, a diverse body living out the Good News of Jesus (in Chicago and abroad!), pursuing loving relationships, and engaging with our wider community. We have since moved twice and are now made up of immigrants from all over the world, from the 1st and 2nd generations arriving in the U.S. to those whose families have been here for centuries. Our

immigrant heritage reminds us that as Christ-followers we are sojourners: citizens of the Kingdom of God, therefore strangers in this world, and always on a journey of trust more deeply and fully in our loving Lord. We are a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), “a multiethnic movement of 875 congregations in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. The ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the call to extend God’s love to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.” (covchurch.org) We are:

- Evangelical, but not exclusive
- Biblical, but not doctrinaire
- Traditional, but not rigid
- Congregational, but not independent

For more information, feel free to send us a message and someone will be in contact with you. Also, you can visit our website or the ECC website.

Our final service will be held on January 23, 2022 at 2:00pm. It will be a time to give thanks for all God has done through Immanuel over the years. Due to safety concerns related to COVID-19, we ask that you RSVP on our website if you would like to attend. We are also collecting memories from anyone who has been impacted by their time at Immanuel. If you have any pictures, videos, or stories that you would like to share, please send them to [email protected] https://immanuelcov.org/final-service-of-thanksgiving/

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the membership of Immanuel has voted to close. It was a difficult decision, however, due to our declining numbers, we are no longer able to continue the important work that a church is called to do. We are thankful for how God has worked in and through us over the past 98 years and for all of the people who have been a part of our congregation over those years. Our final worship service will be January 23, 2022. More information regarding that service will be announced closer to the date.

We will be meeting outside on the back lawn for worship tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

Here's a great video where some local folks--including some pastors--answer that question. This video was produced by B & W Media Services. Why did YOU get vaccinated? Send us an email and we'll post your answers here!

Friends, please join us in prayer for the situation in India, and please consider giving through a reputable charity, such as Covenant World Relief and Development (who has direct connections in India).

India’s second wave of Covid-19 shows no signs of slowing down. The country's healthcare system is overwhelmed by supply shortages for hospital beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines. Our global partners in India are facing great devestation, fear, and loss.

Covenant World Relief and Development is responding directly to needs through the Hindustani Covenant Church. Go to https://bit.ly/3xGelqq to give.

Join us for an outdoor gathering this Saturday evening! (We will meet in the church's West side yard.)
