First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple Welcome to the Heart of the City! Come join our diverse and inclusive congregation in the heart of Chicago! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ Established in 1831.

We welcome all people to the life of this congregation. We believe that we are all in need of God's love and grace and that God, through Jesus Christ, intends the church to be a community that incarnates love, grace and justice for all people. r Christian life together. The First United Methodist Church, commonly know as the Chicago Temple, is older than the city of Chicago, founded in 1831. Today the church worships in the fifth building to be located at the corner of Clark and Washington. Designed by Holabird and Roche, the cornerstone was laid in 1922 and the building was dedicated in 1924. The main sanctuary on the ground level is open for prayer and meditation Monday - Friday from 11 am to 1pm. A free tour of the Sky Chapel is offered Following Sunday Services.

Blessed and beautiful beginnings! The Chicago Temple Pilgrimage to Rome has officially begun, and what a profound grace to start our journey on Pentecost Sunday.
Walking through the historic streets of Rome on the very day we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit has filled our hearts with immense joy and renewal. We are ready to listen, reflect, and grow closer in faith and fellowship over the coming days.
Please keep our pilgrims in your prayers as we retrace the steps of early faith! 🇮🇹👣
