What is Simbang Gabi?
Simbang Gabi, meaning "Night Mass," is a cherished Filipino Christmas tradition of nine dawn Masses (or evening Masses) from December 16 to 24, a spiritual preparation for Christmas, also called Misa de Gallo (Rooster's Mass). Introduced by Spanish friars for farmers, it's known for its early morning services, festive parol lanterns, Nativity scenes (Belen), and post-Mass treats like bibingka and p**o bumbong, symbolizing faith, sacrifice, and the journey to welcome Jesus.
