I probably should have posted this earlier, but these are the three issues/questions that I get the most during the course of the season:
Slaughter rule is in effect after 4.5 innings, if the winning team is ahead by 12 or more runs. This means that any time after the bottom of the 5th inning that a team goes ahead by 12 runs the game is automatically over. If the home team is ahead by 12 runs after the top of the fifth, the game is over. If the visiting team is ahead by 12 runs after the bottom of the 5th, the game is over.
In the event that a team is aware that they will be short players (9 or less), they will first approach the opposing team to see if they have a player to help fill their open spot. It is the choice of the team providing the player(s) as to who fills the spot. The opposing team will fill the number of players that the short team has open, but if they do not have enough, the team that is short player(s) can approach a player from a team that is not playing at the same time. That player will be required to catch and bat last. If more than one player is necessary, the second player would play right field and bat second from last. A third player would play second base and bat third from last. If more than three players are required to play a game, that team will forfeit the game. Rostered players who arrive after the game has started will take the last spot in the batting order and will then take a position on the field in place of one of the substitutes (first replacement would be a player that is not rostered on the opposing team), who can then go back to his original team. Player positioning of rostered players will then go in reverse order (i.e., second base, right field, catcher). A late rostered player cannot enter a game after the 5th inning. (The player must play two innings in the field and bat once to qualify as an attended game). Stacking your team with top players in the league is strongly discouraged considering the fact that your team was short players in the first place.
All players will play a minimum of 6 defensive outs and bat at least one time per game.
