Our campers explored the ecosystem through hands-on science activities, including creating Styrofoam worm compost bins and Ziploc seed-germination bags. They learned how worms help break down organic material, how seeds begin to grow, and how every part of nature works together.

“For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up…” — Isaiah 61:11

We are grateful for a day of discovery, care for creation, and growing curiosity.

Bexley Seabury seminarians, accompanied by their professor, joined the St. Martin’s–St. James Summer in the City program as part of a course centered on community organizing. During their visit, they observed program activities, toured Harambee Gardens, and shared lunch with campers, counselors, and staff.

The day offered a meaningful opportunity to see community organizing in action through fellowship, youth engagement, environmental stewardship, and neighborhood partnership. It was a wonderful day of learning, connection, and shared purpose.

“And let us consider how to provoke one another unto love and to good works.” — Hebrews 10:24

We are grateful to the Bexley Seabury seminarians and their professor for spending the day with us and engaging with the work of St. Martin’s–St. James Summer in the City.

Jacob Perkins served faithfully as Camp Administrative Assistant during Beach Day with the campers and Harambee Garden with the counselors. In addition, his on-the-scenes work, organization, and willingness to support the team helped make the days of the duration of camp run smoothly and safely for everyone.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23

Jacob’s dedication reflects the value of dependable service and the difference one committed person can make in creating a successful experience for our campers, counselors, and volunteers.
