Francis seemed to understand something that is easy for us to forget: animals are not simply things that belong to us. They are part of the community of creation. Francis called them his brothers and sisters. He understood that we are connected to all of creation—the animals we love, the beasts we never encounter, the earth beneath our feet, the water that nourishes and sustains, and the people sitting beside us. We are even connected to the people and creatures we might not particularly like.

What an exciting liturgy at HTLakeview yesterday! We celebrated the feast of Francis of Assisi with a pet blessing, and were joined by guest cantor Roosevelt Credit who shared some beautiful music with us.

We THANK YOU, Pastor Craig Mueller, for shepherding the Holy Trinity community for the last 27 and a half years. It is with immense gratitude, sadness, and joy, that we say goodbye and wish you blessings, fulfillment, and success in the next chapter of your journey.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share in many wonderful celebrations, reminiscing, seeing old friends, and offering many thanks for the gifts you have shared with us over nearly three decades in ministry.

Thank you to Bishop Erik Christensen and Rev. Kathy Nolte from the Metropolitan Chicago Synod, ELCA for joining us in celebrations and reflection; to the Farewell Celebrations committee for the planning and preparation that made these celebrations possible; and to the beloved congregation of Holy Trinity for contributing to such a beatufiul and meaningful send-off. Come back to this table and share in these gifts together.

NEW FEAST THIS SUNDAY: CREATION IN CHRIST

Following several years of study, prayer, and collaboration, a new ecumenical observance is encouraged in the church throughout the world. Grounded in the ancient liturgical tradition of the Orthodox Church, “Creation in Christ” (or “Feast of Creation”) celebrates God as Creator and ponders the great mystery that everything was created through Christ. And, as a result, it also inspires us to care for the gift of the created world. Although the rich theme of Christ’s activity in creation abounds throughout the liturgical year, setting aside this day brings an important focus to this mystery.

This is an exciting time, as the last time there was an addition to the liturgical calendar was Christ the King (Reign of Christ) in the 1920s (though it was only adopted by Western churches). It is the first time a new feast/festival has been adopted since the release of the common lectionary in 1983. To be in communion with the Eastern church in celebration of Creation in Christ (Feast of Creation), holds great promise, even in this time of global crisis and uncertainty.

The Holy Trinity Community grieves the unexpected death of beloved member James Perez. The funeral liturgy will be on Saturday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m. Please pray for his husband, Ken Duckmann, and James' family as they grieve. Blessed be his memory

James was born on August 21st, 1963 and passed away on August 1st, 2026 at the age of 62

How are you feeling? I really dislike that question, especially when my therapist asks it. I learned pretty quickly in therapy that an acceptable answer is not, “good” or “I’m fine.” Good is not a feeling, he tells me. A better question is what are you feeling, can you name the emotion? .....

Sing and make music to the Lord in your hearts!

We enjoyed a fabulous performance by the Baltimore Children's Choir during the liturgy at HTLakeview yesterday morning. Following worship the Holy Trinity choir and other members hosted a lunch for the group in the garden.

We are excited to welcome the Baltimore Children's Choir to the liturgy this Sunday at HTLakeview. The choir will be singing throughout the liturgy, including pre-service music beginning at 9:25 am. Plan to arrive early to beat the Pride Parade traffic so you don't miss a beat!

The Baltimore Children’s Choir (BCC) is a nonprofit arts organization that was founded in 2000. BCC provides high-quality choral music education to children throughout the greater Baltimore area in a supportive and structured environment. Within its neighborhood rehearsals, the organization works with over one hundred singers between the ages of five and eighteen.

Each year, BCC performs approximately twenty concerts throughout the region and tours throughout the country. In recent years, the organization has traveled to New York, Niagara Falls, Boston, and San Diego. The Baltimore Children’s Choir has performed at Strathmore Concert Hall, opened a concert for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and performed for the American Choral Directors’ Children’s Choir Retreat and Maryland Music Educators Conference.

In 2018, BCC launched in-school music programs serving public and private schools across the Baltimore metro region. These customized programs take place during or after the school day. Through six school partnerships, BCC currently reaches approximately 1,400 students each week.
