Happy Easter! Christ is risen!

When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. Hi Everyone!

In 2018 Salem Lutheran Church will be celebrating its 150th Anniversary and we are asking YOU to join us on this journey. This is a tremendous milestone, and one that we can look back in thankfulness and appreciation to God who has led us over the years. We have been privileged to be placed as “stewards” for the church at this point, and we are believing that God will help us to continue being faithful to His call to service.

We are planning several celebratory gatherings, including a luncheon. We have decided to ask you to prayerfully consider an “Anniversary” offering in the amount of $150.00 (which is equivalent to $1.00 for each year the church has been in existence). While everyone may not be able to give such an offering at one time, we do want to provide the availability for all to participate by giving over several months. Please contact SLC at 773-783-7776 for more details. Please note that with each $150.00 “Anniversary” offering received, a ticket to the luncheon will be provided.

We look forward to a great time of sharing in what God has done for Salem, but more importantly what the next 150 years may bring.

Today is the first Sunday of Advent, the season where we prepare the way for Christ's coming into our world. “Therefore, keep awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or at dawn, or else he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly. And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake.” (Mark 13:35-37)
