Chamber Music at Bethany was a dream made reality by music director Yasuko Oura (.oura) and regular guest cellist Nick Photinos () . Beginning in 2017, they brought yet more world-class music to our neighborhood setting. Last Sunday, Yasuko shared both that CM@B is now officially closed as a non-profit (the decision happened a while ago) and her gratitude for Bethany’s appreciation of classical and new music.

And then:

Yasuko surprised everyone during the prayers by giving Bethany a generous donation from the CM@B coffers. We are beyond grateful for the gift, all the beautiful music we got to host, and the way she, Nick, and so many others we know through them lead us in worship. Thank you, Yasuko and Nick!

You may know Jordan Harris () as Bethany's Office Manager, but did you know they're also a professional musician, artist, and composer? We've been looking forward to making worship with them for ages, and that time has finally come!

Join us this Sunday at 10am to hear Jordan's singing debut at Bethany, alongside the ever talented on keys. Together, they'll be performing a Leonard Cohen classic, along with some more sitcom themed favorites. We hope you'll join us!

We are SO excited to announce that Bethany has hired Xander King for our Director of Children and Families Ministry position! While Xander is well-known at Bethany, the committee received 23 applicants and interviewed 7 candidates over three rounds of interviews! We are grateful for all the hard work they put in and very excited for Xander to begin this new position.

Congratulate him when you see him, and start thinking about how you would like to support Children's Ministry at Bethany in the coming year!

Days like yesterday remind us what church is all about 😊 We celebrated the baptism of dear Arlo, had our first day of outdoor worship, picnicked on the front lawn and learned how to make "stick bread" (a campfire delicacy) courtesy of and Erica ! It was an absolute blast, and we're excited to keep the party vibes going for the rest of the summer 🌞 Thanks to everyone who brought a dish, helped to set up or otherwise contributed to making it such a special weekend.

See you for more shenanigans this Sunday at 10am!

Bethany, we might have proof of concept: last week’s Theme Songs service was so much fun! Perfect for summer worship and, last week, a deep dive into all of the prestige drama fodder that is the life of Samuel.

This Sunday, join us for our first day of summer worship, meaning we'll meet at 10am this week and for the rest of the summer! Join us on the front lawn, bring a blanket to stretch out if you'd like,

Then, stay afterward for our Summer Potluck Picnic!! Bring a dish to share; we’ll need mains, sides, and desserts.

AND: Have a cornhole/bags game you can bring for the afternoon? Please do. We’ll play — whether we get ourselves organized into a full scale tournament or not.

PLUS: Erica and Maria will be overseeing a small fire for kids (and others?) to grill hotdogs and learn to make stick bread. It’s time Bethany learns about this campfire delicacy! Hotdogs, veggie dogs, sticks, and dough provided. Think you might want a hotdog too? Bring along a pack.

FINALLY: kids and others can dig in with Xander and Rebecca, putting some more plants and seeds into our gardens.

See you this Sunday at 10am, in person or online!

With thanks to Rev. Debbie Blue, Friend-of-Bethany Jennifer Ould and Hart Lang, Pastor Rebecca kicked off our Theme Songs series wondering: could she be a show-runner??? Hear some of her 3-season arc for a prestige program based on Samuel’s life, and the theme song for the same, sung by his mother in 1 Samuel 2. (The donkeys are from Season 2, Episode 1 but that got cut for time)
