Dan državnosti Republike Hrvatske proslavljen je svečano u Hrvatskoj župi sv. Jeronima u subotu 30. svibnja, 2026. prvim godišnjim turnirom u uličnoj košarci. Turnir je održan u spomen na pokojnog fra Pavu Maslaća, zauzetog radnika na njivi Gospodnjoj među hrvatskim iseljenicima u SAD-u, čovjeka koji je svoj život, između ostalog, posvetio i ostvarenju sna o slobodnoj Hrvatskoj i istinskog sportskog entuzijasta.

Sportski dio programa je započeo u 9:30 sati ujutro izvođenjem hrvatske himne, obraćanjem župnika fra Antonija Muse te minutom šutnje i molitvom za pokojne branitelje koji su svoju žrtvu ugradili u slobodu moderne hrvatske Države. Uslijedio je niz natjecateljskih i revijalnih utakmica, uz pregršt sadržaja za djecu i mlade, a gledatelji su mogli uživati u glazbi te bogatoj ponudi hrane i pića.

Turnir je okupio 13 timova iz Chicaga, Ohio-a, Texasa i Kanade, a pobjedu je odnio tim “Air Jeromes” u sastavu Josip Petrušić, Tomislav Čuvalo, Damian Dalić i Daniel Dalić. Medalju je pobjedničkom timu uručila Sanja Laković, Generalna konzulica RH u Chicagu. Proslava Dana državnosti nastavlja se u nedjelju svetom misom za Domovinu u 11 sati, a poslije svete mise bit će prikazan film “260 DANA” redatelja Jakovs Sedlara!

On Saturday, May 30 from 10:00 AM in the morning, our Parish will host a first street basketball tournament celebrating Croatian Statehood Day, remembering the date when the Croatian Parliament voted to leave communist Yugoslavia. 🇭🇷 The tournament will be played in honor of a very special sport enthusiast - Fr. Paul Maslać. Join us for games, food, live music and fun from 10:00 AM—10:00 PM at St. Jerome's Parking lot on 29th and Princeton! 🏀

On Sunday, May 30, we will celebrate the Mass for Homeland at 11:00 AM at St. Jerome Church 🙏 followed by Parish Lunch in the Hall and screening of the movie "260 DAYS." The movie tells the story of a 10-years-old Croatian boy Marijan and his family who spent 260 days in Serbian Prison Camps during the Homeland War in 1990s. The movie is in English with Croatian subtitles. For tickets ($20 each) see Nevenka Jurković, Vera Ćosić or Luka Kosić or visit St. Jerome Rectory.

Lunch will be available for purchase in the Parish Hall starting at 12:00 PM. $15 per plate: Rižot, Italian Sausage, Salad & Bread. Cash Bar and Sweet Table.

Join us in prayer for officer Mangan! 🙏🏻 🦁

The St. Jerome community is holding St. Jerome alumnus Officer Kevin Mangan close in prayer after he was hurt in the line of duty yesterday.

We ask God to bless him, heal him, and watch over him during his recovery. Please keep Officer Mangan, his loved ones, and all first responders in your prayers.

As part of our ABC Countdown, next Friday is “U” for Uplifting Kindness. We will also be holding an Extra Generous Jeans Day to support Officer Mangan and his family during this time.
