Moody Alumni Association

Moody Alumni Association The Moody Alumni Association is a dynamic relationship of former students who share a common spiritual heritage.

With over 41,000 alumni living throughout the world, we have endless stories to tell. Our alumni today are preparing dissertations, leading new ministries, starting businesses, curing the sick, planting churches, making movies, raising families, influencing politics, translating the Bible and inspiring others to similar pursuits for the glory of God. The Alumni Association wants to tell these stories and keep us in conversation with one another—even when we are oceans apart.

“The Gospel has meant several things to me...”

When asked how the power of the Gospel has transformed him, Moody alumnus and Professor of Pastoral Studies, Dr. Kerwin Rodriguez (‘09), shared:

“Knowing that God is my heavenly Father brings me deep comfort and reassurance. The Gospel means that Jesus is near to me as a friend because of his sacrifice. He looks upon me with love and kindness, which gives me strength to walk through life with confidence.

I came to faith in Christ at ten years old, completely captivated by the story of Jesus. While attending a small Christian school, our class was studying the Gospel of Matthew, reading about Jesus’ death and burial. As a naïve 10-year-old, I raised my hand and asked, ‘Why can’t we just go and see where He’s buried?’ My teacher paused, took a deep breath, and then said, ‘Because He was raised from the dead.’

At that moment, by the Spirit of God, everything clicked. The truth of the Gospel became real to me, and from that day on, I placed my faith in the Lord.
As a young man and now as an adult, I have seen the Lord’s hand in my life—caring for me, comforting me, and walking with me. My hope isn’t temporary but eternal. No matter what happens in this life, I can rest knowing that God is with me and with all who trust in Him.”

James Mulvihill (attended ‘71) and Janice (Haag) Mulvihill (‘84) returned to the Chicago MBI campus for Founder’s Week this past October, a meaningful visit as Janice celebrated her 40th class reunion and reconnected with other alumni.

The couple’s journey together began in London, where they met after Janice completed three months of training with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) — an organization they have faithfully served since 1985. From the start, their hearts were set on missions and entering Moody not with a pledge to go, but a pledge to be willing.

That willingness led them to four years in England and 28 years in Belize where they have dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel. Though now retired from full-time missions, they remain active volunteers who continue to live out their commitment saying, “Yes Lord, I am willing.”

The end of summer- which means the conclusion of our Summer of Psalms!
Psalm 89:1-2 ESV
"I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
For I said, 'steadfast love will be built up forever;
in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.'"

Summer of Psalms: Psalm 61:1-4
"Hear my cry, O God,
listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.
Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!"

Summer of Psalms: Psalm 40:2-5 ESV
"He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie!
You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
your wonderous deeds and your thoughts towards us;
none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them,
yet they are more than can be told."

Summer of Psalms: Psalm 86:1-7 ESV
"Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you- you are my God.
Be gracious to me, O Lord,
for to you do I cry all the day.
Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
listen to my plea for grace.
In the day of my trouble I call upon you,
for you answer me.
