Stop trying to force what is your will and not God’s will.
It’s like seeing a pair of shoes you really want, but they don’t come in your size. Instead of walking away, you buy them anyway—just to keep up appearances. Now you’re wearing something that doesn’t fit, something that hurts, yet you smile so no one notices the discomfort.
Spiritually, this reflects a deeper truth: when we step outside of God’s will, we often enter into unnecessary strain and hidden pain. Scripture reminds us, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 14:12). What looks appealing in the moment may ultimately bring distress when it is not aligned with God’s purpose.
Furthermore, Jesus invites believers into a different kind of life—one marked not by forced striving, but by divine alignment: “My yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30). When something consistently produces inner turmoil, pressure, or misalignment, it may be an indication that it was never meant to be carried.
The challenge, then, is not merely behavioral but spiritual: to surrender the desire to “fit into” what was never designed for you, and instead trust that what God has ordained will both fit and sustain you without hidden pain.
What is from God will not require you to pretend it doesn’t hurt.
