What are you really building your life on?

This week we opened Ecclesiastes 2 and sat with a hard truth: work, as meaningful as it feels, can become a lie we tell ourselves. A promise of permanence, security, and identity that it simply cannot keep. Like a sandcastle, everything we strive to build will one day be washed away.

But there is good news. God did not design work to be toil. In the garden, work was an act of love, a creative partnership with God to help the world flourish. Jesus shows us the way back to that purpose, inviting us to eat, drink, and find enjoyment in our toil, trusting that every good gift comes from God's hand (Ecclesiastes 2:24).

💭 What would it look like to work hard for the right reasons this week? Sound off in the comments below.

We live in the most pleasure chasing culture in history, yet happiness is at an all time low...Sound familiar?

In Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, the Teacher tried it all: w**e, wealth, entertainment, relationships, and concluded it was all vanity, a striving after wind.

The problem is not that we desire too much. As C.S. Lewis wrote, we are too easily pleased, settling for temporary pleasures that leave us empty when something infinitely greater is being offered.

True and lasting fulfillment is found not in the next experience, relationship, or purchase, but in the presence of God himself. Psalm 16:11 reminds us that fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore are found there, and nowhere else.

Join us as we continue through Ecclesiastes and discover what it means to stop chasing the wind and start finding satisfaction in the one we were made to know.

Spending this last day of summer looking back with gratitude for all the Lord has done. This summer gave us so many opportunities to love our neighbors, serve our communities, and be the hands and feet of Jesus throughout Chicago.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time, served faithfully, and joined in along the way. We’re grateful for the ways God has been at work in and through our communities this summer. 💛

What if the wisest person who ever lived used all their wisdom to find the meaning of life and still came up short? That is exactly what Solomon discovered in Ecclesiastes 1:12-18. More wisdom brought more sorrow, not more answers.

Human wisdom can reveal this world's brokenness, but it cannot repair it. Solomon's honest conclusion points us away from ourselves and toward the only one who truly satisfies: Jesus Christ.

We do not need more information. We need a Savior. Jesus entered our brokenness, died for our sin, and rose again so that we could find real meaning, real hope, and real life in him.

DAY 01 of our 2026 Holy Week Prayer & Worship Nights – “ADORATION: HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME”.

As our elder Ryan Kennell has shared, the word “hallowed” means sacred, holy, set apart. God’s name (and therefore, God Himself) is to be uniquely valued above all. We adore Him “for who He is”, not merely for what He can do for us.

Jesus teaches us to address God as “Our Father”. This is a corporate prayer collectively adoring God as our beloved Father - the perfectly holy, set apart Creator God invites sin-stained you and me into an intimate relationship where we have the privilege to call Him, “Our Father.”
