Faith in Words, Integrity in Action While Aligning Belief with Daily Conduct
Many people profess faith in God, yet their daily conduct especially at work does not always reflect integrity. True faith should be demonstrated through honesty, responsibility, and ethical behavior in everyday life.
CONFESSING FAITH IN GOD BUT DAILY LIFE DON'T ALIGN
Many people openly profess faith in God, attend worship services, and pray regularly, yet their daily conduct especially in the workplace sometimes contradicts the very principles they claim to follow. One area where this contradiction often appears is in how individuals handle their responsibilities on the job. While presenting themselves as devoted believers, some engage in behaviors such as stealing time, ignoring company policies, or using company resources for personal purposes. These actions may seem small or harmless to some, but they represent a serious breach of integrity.
Work with Integrity as Unto the Lord according to Colossians 3:23–24 - “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
STEALING OF TIME AND MISUSE OF BUSINESS RESOURCES
Stealing time in the office occurs when an employee is being paid to work but deliberately spends work hours on personal matters unrelated to their job responsibilities. Similarly, printing personal business materials on a company’s copier or using office supplies for private gain without permission is a misuse of resources entrusted to employees by their employer. Disobeying established business policies and leadership also undermines the trust that organizations place in their staff to act responsibly and professionally.
Avoid Taking What Does Not Belong to You according to Ephesians 4:28 - “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good…”
VIOLATION OF PRINCIPLES OF INTEGRITY, HONESTY, STEWARDSHIP, AND ACCOUNTABILITY
From both an ethical and spiritual perspective, such behavior is wrong because it violates principles of honesty, stewardship, and accountability. Faith traditions, particularly biblical teachings, emphasize that integrity should extend into every area of life not only in places of worship but also in everyday responsibilities. Scripture teaches that individuals should be faithful in what is entrusted to them and work “as unto the Lord.” When employees misuse time or company resources, they are essentially taking something that does not belong to them.
Faithfulness in Small Things according to Luke 16:10 - “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
DAMAGED PERSONAL CREDIBILITY AND REPUTATION
Furthermore, these actions damage personal credibility and the reputation of those who profess faith. When someone claims to be devoted to God yet practices dishonesty at work, it creates a contradiction that others notice. True worship is not merely expressed through prayer or songs but through consistent character and ethical behavior in daily life.
God Desires Truth and Integrity according to Psalm 51:6 - “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.”
In the end, genuine faith calls for integrity in both private devotion and public conduct. Employees who honor God through their actions will respect company policies, use time wisely, and handle workplace resources responsibly. Living with integrity ensures that one’s worship is not only spoken with words but demonstrated through righteous behavior in every aspect of life.
If you are caught living out these kinds of ungodly behaviors, you must own it and pray to God for a transformed mind, spirit and thought.
Until next time, consider being in right standing with God in all things always while being ready as an instrument to be used of God.
