Today we celebrate the graduating class of PLTS: Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and give special recognition to the inaugural cohort of the Theological Education for Indigenous Leaders (TEIL) program.

This first cohort included 8 Indigenous leaders who completed the program while continuing to serve their communities through ministry, leadership, advocacy, and spiritual care. Their dedication, wisdom, and commitment to their people and communities have already made a meaningful impact.

Congratulations to Reverend Wanda Kay Frenchman, Patterson Yazzie, Shannon Klescewski, Amber Lee Lund, Rebecca Lynn, Deborah M. Nyquist
Amanda Rose St. Claire, and Gabriel Wanblii Watakpe Wounded Head

We honor their hard work, perseverance, and calling, and we give thanks for the ways they continue to lead with faith, culture, and compassion.

Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates. We wish you continued blessings and success in your ministries and future endeavors.

Congratulations to Miranda Searcy on earning their Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary!

Miranda’s ministry and scholarship reflect a deep commitment to exploring the intersection of q***r, Indigenous, and Lutheran theologies while faithfully serving the church and community. A citizen of United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, Miranda has also served as Vicar at Trinity Lutheran Church, bringing compassion, wisdom, and authenticity to ministry.

May this milestone be only the beginning of the many ways your voice, leadership, and faith will continue to shape the church and the world. Congratulations, Miranda!

Connection. Community. Healing. Love. The energy in the circle tonight was strong. We had lots of songs on the big drum, on the water drum and the hand drum. Most of the people don't know each other when they arrive but leave knowing they are valued, respected and part of something bigger. I have to give thanks to the Creator for sending so many leaders to us, for without them the circle would be incomplete. We are blessed to be able to help so many people find peace in a place of love.

Election years are a significant time for Lutherans to be active in civic engagement, and congregations and rostered ministers must ensure that activities related to the electoral process are transparent, nonpartisan and legal. This updated guide shares important considerations. https://resources.elca.org/advocacy/being-a-public-church/
