How can we let Christ help us when we stumble?

Matthew 14: 29-31 says:
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

When we try strive to walk in our Savior's footsteps we all make mistakes along the way. Like Peter, we can be distracted by the boisterous winds of life and be caught up in the world. We are promised however, that if we call upon Jesus Christ to "save us" that he will immediately come to our aid. Through Christ we can overcome the storms of life and be redeemed even when we make mistakes!

What is faith?🧐

Well, Ether 12:6 (pg. 509 in the Book of Mormon) states exactly what faith is. "...faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."

We see from this scripture that we have to go through some sort of trial before we can truly receive a witness. An example of this is what happened to Peter after he denied Christ. This was the trial he needed to go through before he truly became converted to the gospel.

Here's some ideas that you could try to increase your faith!
⭐️Reading the scriptures everyday.
⭐️Saying a prayer daily.
⭐️Reaching out to local missionaries to learn more about Christ.
⭐️Attending church.

God gave us our agency, the ability to make choices.

"Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself. Wherefore, man could not act for himself save it should be that he was enticed by the one or the other." 2 Nephi 2:16

This makes it possible for us to learn and grow. We spend everyday surrounded by hundreds and thousands of choices. We choose when to get out of bed, what to eat for breakfast, when and if to work out. We also choose between coming closer to Christ or turning away from him.

What goals could you make to come closer to Christ this year?

You could try:
☆Read a scripture everyday.
☆Ask the missionaries where a local Church meeting is.
☆Discover what Christ wants you to do through prayer and pondering.
☆Spend time each day talking to God through prayer.

What is the Restoration?

A young man named Joseph Smith in 1820 was reading James 1:5. "If any of ye lack wisdom let him ask of God, which giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him."

He was concerned about which church to join and after praying about his question, God and Jesus Christ appeared to him.

He was told that the full truth of the gospel was not on the earth at that time. Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet and helped to bring Christ's church back on the earth!

Why is a prophet important?

Amos 3:7
7 "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."

God is the source of all truth. Because He loves us, God wants all His children to know the truth. Therefore, He reveals the truth through prophets and apostles. He also reveals truth to us personally through the scriptures and personal revelation.
A prophet is called and chosen by God and is a righteous man with great faith. The Lord reveals truth to him through the Holy Ghost. He commands His prophet to teach truth to all people. Those who believe God’s words as revealed through His prophet are blessed.

Have you ever wondered why we are here on earth?

The time we have here on earth is a time to prepare to meet God in the afterlife!

In Alma 12:24 on page 239 in The Book of Mormon it says,

"nevertheless there was a space granted unto man in which he might repent; therefore this life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead."

What is "The Book of Mormon?"🧐

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ! Just like the Bible it teaches and testifies of Christ, and helps us grow closer to Him!🙏❤️😁

"Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may trust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole dearth, and have been slain for the sins of the world."

Why Baptism?

Baptism is an amazing thing! Jesus Christ set the example for us to show us how and why it is so important. Baptism makes it possible to be forgiven of all of our sins!

In the Book of Mormon it teaches us about this on page 113 in 2 Nephi 31:5

"And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to be baptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water!"
