Some of the most surprising discoveries aren't new ideas, they're old convictions we've forgotten.

Many Methodists would be shocked to learn just how central Holy Communion was to John Wesley's understanding of the Christian life. Not as an occasional ritual or symbol, but as a means of grace through which Christ genuinely meets his people to forgive, heal, and nourish our starving souls. Wesley even witnessed people experiencing their very first moments of salvation and conversion right at the table.

It's so easy for a sacred thing to become a routine thing. You can do something a hundred times, say the same words, make the same motions, and slowly stop noticing you're standing on holy ground. So next time you enter Holy Communion: come hungry β€” and expect to actually meet God!

Drop a πŸ”₯ if you want to see a revival of expectation in our worship services.

Worship is one of the most familiar words in the Christian vocabulary, and one of the most misunderstood.

Many of us instinctively associate worship with music, church service, or what we do on Sunday. But what if worship is much bigger than that?

Worship is a posture before it's an activity. The work we do for God is seasonal, but our adoration of God is eternal.

Read more in today’s article. Comment 'worship' below and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.

Back in 1843, a man named Thomas Birch Freeman stepped onto the coast of what is now Benin and began to preach. Freeman, who was the son of a freed slave, became one of the most influential Methodist missionaries in West Africa.

Freeman sailed, carrying nothing but a radical conviction that the Gospel sets people free. Today, that legacy lives on through the Eglise Protestante Methodiste du Benin (EPMB)! What started with one man now encompasses roughly 90,000 members worshipping across 420 congregations.

They run hospital and prison chaplaincies. They serve refugees. They invest in agricultural development. Through their Union of Methodist Women, they provide education and practical skills training for girls and women in rural communities. They have also played a significant role in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention efforts across the country.

WME was grateful for the opportunity to provide training in Porto-Novo in January, 2025. We are also thankful for the emerging young leaders from Benin who joined us for Metanoia Global in 2024.

It’s one of the hardest paradoxes of Christian leadership: It is entirely possible to lose your connection to God while doing the work of God.

In our culture right now, the pressure to endlessly perform is real. Yet true spiritual formation happens in the quiet, hidden spaces of the soul. The minute a gap opens in the day, we fill it β€” usually with a screen β€” and we've quietly lost the ability to be alone with our own thoughts, let alone alone with God.

If you've found yourself going through the motions lately β€” sharing truths your brain knows but your heart hasn't felt in a while β€” take this as a gentle invitation to protect the interior life.

The church doesn't need more exhausted performance; it needs leaders who are deeply rooted in the living God.

There's a difference between asking God to bless what we've already decided to do, and asking Him what He wants to do with us today.

One is a request for backup.
The other is a partnership.

The second one changes the whole shape of an ordinary day.

Following the 1959 Cuban Revolution, 95% of the Methodist clergy were forced to flee, leaving behind a fragmented remnant in a state of government suppression. Human logic said the church would fade away. God’s plan said otherwise.

Today, the Iglesia Metodista en Cuba is one of the fastest-growing movements on the island, boasting an annual growth rate of nearly 10% for over twenty years!

World Methodist Evangelism has a long history of collaboration with the Methodist Church in Cuba, beginning with the WME Summit of the Americas held in Havana in 2004 and continuing to our current partnership. WME has provided training for the Church on many occasions, and we are blessed to annually take our FLAME Fellows cohorts there to experience the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit that is evident in the Methodist Church in Cuba.

How many times have we asked ourselves, "Is God actually speaking to me, or is this just my own inner monologue?"

It is so incredibly easy to get caught up in the anxiety of trying to "figure out" God’s will for our lives. But true spiritual intimacy doesn't come from decyphering divine clues; it comes from a lifestyle of listening with our ears wide open.

When we cultivate a quiet space to seek, saturate, and surrender, our personal desires slowly blend into His. Suddenly, we aren't searching for His will anymore β€” we are living it.

This is what we mean when we talk about a life formed by the Spirit: comment 'listen' below and I’ll send Kerry Willis' "Ears Wide Open" article straight to your inbox or check out the link in bio.

We want to know! How do you intentionally cultivate silence in your daily routine? Let’s share some practices below. πŸ‘‡

Resurrection faith is bigger than life after death.

It’s the belief that Jesus still raises people out of fear, shame, exhaustion, hopelessness, and spiritual passivity today.
