Sermon: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”. Rev. Mylicia Markham
Scripture - John 10:-1-10
What do you think about being a sheep? Sheep supposedly have small brains and are not smart, IF this is true how do they know their Shepards voice? We all wait for the Shepard to rescue us, but do we really know His voice?
Abundant life - What does it look like? What is it lacking?
It is the place where the Shepard is calling you! It is not luxury, ease, or stuff. It is a life lived within hearing distance of Jesus. We need to listen, learn, follow, trust and bring hope.
Focusing on listening - Following is the product of listening. His voice will lead us if we choose to follow, but we must learn to recognize His voice, for there are voices we need not listen to or follow.
How do we discern which is His voice? Through study, devotion and a daily process of moving closer to Christ, becoming more like Him.
The Shepard knows OUR NAME!! How cool it that😎? He calls, comes and matches us to be who we are.
Following Him has a rightness to it, what my soul is made for. His voice resonates with who we are, not the self the world pressures us to be. Enter through Him (gate) and be saved. He leads us through still waters.
Movement in being a Christian - we find our substance in coming, going and serving through our lives. And He will let us know what is right!
On Sunday mornings we are pulled back in to be together.
DO SOMETHING - SERVE, HELP, TEACH, SHARE what God has done for you. If you don’t know how to serve or where to serve, there are many possibilities if you just ask. And as you serve, in your comings and goings you will learn to listen and act to share Gods’ love.
Listening is HARD!! We must learn to recognize HIS voice from the others. Live with no regret that you are listening, allowing Him to call you out.
ARE YOU LISTENING?
