It may just be one of the most rewarding & cup-filling things you do with your time! 🥰 There's cupcakes AND sunshine when you're hanging out with our SPARK & Clubhouse kids! 😅

If you'd like to be part of leading children to encounter, experience, and be empowered to live for Christ... then we encourage you to head over to Church Center & let us know!! Our team AND 🩵OUR KIDS🩵 would be so lucky & thankful to have you!

✨AUGUST WEEK 4 AT HOME✨
This week we discussed "bringing heaven everywhere"!

🙏 Pray
“Jesus, thank You for showing us how to live. Help us bring Your love, peace, hope, kindness, and joy wherever we go. Holy Spirit, give us courage to make peace and keep doing what is right, even when it is difficult. Use our family to help our home, school, church, and neighborhood look more like Heaven. Amen.”

💡 Parent Tip
Peacemaking is more than avoiding arguments. It means helping restore relationships, listening to others, speaking truth with kindness, and choosing forgiveness. When conflict happens in your family, guide your child toward making things right instead of simply ending the disagreement. Ask, “What would bring God’s peace into this situation?” This helps children see conflict as an opportunity to practice the way of Jesus.

🌟Weekly Challenge
“Carry Heaven Everywhere Challenge”

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you carry God’s love, peace, and hope wherever you go this week.
☐ Help two people get along.
☐ Encourage someone who is having a difficult day.
☐ Choose what is right, even when others do not.
☐ Forgive someone instead of trying to get even.
☐ Share God’s love through a helpful action.

At the end of each day, talk about one way you helped your world look more like Heaven.

🔥 Memory Truth
“We keep bringing Heaven, even when it’s hard!”

❤️ Family Connection
Before bedtime each night, ask:
“What did you carry into the world today—love, peace, hope, kindness, forgiveness, or joy?”

Celebrate each answer and talk about one thing your family can carry into tomorrow. Finish by thanking the Holy Spirit for helping your family follow Jesus, even when it is difficult.

✨AUG WEEK 3 AT HOME✨

Yesterday our children learned what it looks like to have a heart like Jesus.
Matthew 5:6–8

🙏 Pray
“Jesus, thank You for loving us and showing us what mercy looks like. Please change our hearts and help us want what is right. Holy Spirit, help us forgive, tell the truth, show kindness, and give people another chance. Let our thoughts, words, and choices show others what Your heart is like. Amen.”

💡 Parent Tip
A heart like Jesus does not develop through behavior correction alone. Children need help understanding the heart behind their choices. When correcting your child, move beyond asking, “What did you do?” Ask, “What was happening in your heart?” and “What would love or mercy look like now?” This helps children learn that following Jesus is not only about outward behavior—it is about allowing Him to change us from the inside out.

🌟Weekly Challenge
“Heart Like Jesus Challenge”

Ask the Holy Spirit to help your heart look more like Jesus’ heart every day this week.
☐ Forgive someone who hurt your feelings.
☐ Tell the truth when it would be easier to hide it.
☐ Help someone without expecting anything in return.
☐ Give someone another chance.
☐ Choose kindness when you feel frustrated.

At the end of each day, talk about one choice that showed kindness, mercy, honesty, or forgiveness.

🔥 Memory Truth
“Kingdom people have hearts that look like Jesus!”

❤️ Family Connection
Before bedtime each night, ask:
“How did your heart look like Jesus’ heart today?”

Celebrate each answer. If someone struggled, talk about what they could do differently tomorrow. Finish by asking the Holy Spirit to continue changing your family’s hearts to look more like Jesus.

✨AUG WEEK 2 AT HOME✨

This past Sunday, your kids learned about Paul & Silas!
Acts 16:16-40 ⬅️If you want to read it with them again

🙏 Pray
"Jesus, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit. When we feel afraid, worried, or face hard things, help us remember that You are always with us. Give us courage like Paul and Silas to worship You, trust You, and keep following You no matter what. Amen."

💡 Parent Tip
Children will experience challenges—whether it's making friends, trying something new, or dealing with disappointment. Instead of trying to remove every difficult situation, help your child learn to invite the Holy Spirit into those moments. Encourage them to pray simple prayers like, "Holy Spirit, help me be brave," or "Holy Spirit, help me trust Jesus." These everyday conversations teach children that God is with them in every circumstance.

🌟 Weekly Challenge
"Be Brave Challenge"
This week, ask the Holy Spirit to help you be brave in one of these ways:

☐ Pray when I feel worried.
☐ Worship God even when I'm having a bad day.
☐ Tell someone Jesus loves them.
☐ Encourage a friend who is sad.
☐ Trust God when something feels hard.

🔥 Memory Truth
"Jesus gave me the Holy Spirit to help me face anything!"

Family Connection:
Whenever someone in your family has a hard moment this week, remind each other by saying:

"The Holy Spirit is with you—you can face this!"

Promotion Sunday is a special moment in DC Kids where we celebrate growth, honor transition, and help every child take their next step in their faith journey.

During both main services, we will recognize our rising 6th graders as they are officially promoted from DC Kids into BLAZE Youth Ministry. Each rising 6th grader will receive a special gift, be prayed for, and be recognized on stage as we celebrate all God has done in their lives and send them into this next season.

We are asking parents of rising 6th graders to please click on the link below and let us know which service your rising 6th grader will be attending.

Also beginning August 2, our rising 1st graders are invited to join us in SPARK Elementary! We are excited to welcome them into this next environment as they continue to encounter God, experience His love, and be empowered to live for Christ. Throughout July, we ask parents to continue to keep their rising 1st graders in the Clubhouse until Promotion Sunday on the 2nd.

✨Here's a look at our new Clubhouse expectations & reset tools!

In Clubhouse (Ages 3–Kindergarten), we use age-appropriate expectations that are easy for young children to remember.

Our preschool LEAP expectations are:
L — Listen - We listen to our teachers and friends.
E — Extra Kind - We use kind words and kind actions.
A — Ask - We ask for help when we need it.
P — Praise God - We worship, pray, and learn about Jesus together.

When preschoolers need help getting back on track, we use our HOP Reset Steps:

H — Hear the Reminder - We listen when our teacher reminds us what to do.
O — Other Spot - We move to a different spot to help us refocus.
P — Parent Talk - If needed, we partner with parents to help support success.

Unlike the BUILD process used in SPARK Elementary, HOP is not meant to be followed in a strict, step-by-step order. Instead, it works more like a circle. Our leaders may move between these steps as needed, giving children multiple opportunities to pause, reset, and make a better choice. The goal is not to move through steps, but to help each child successfully rejoin the group positively and encouragingly.

HOP gives children a simple, flexible way to reset while keeping the classroom supportive, patient, and focused on growth.

😉How Parents Can Help

After church, try asking:
⭐ What was one way you were extra kind today?
⭐ Did you ask for help when you needed it?
⭐ What did you learn about Jesus?

Together, we can help children build healthy habits, strong friendships, and a growing relationship with Jesus.
