On October 17th at 6:00 PM, The City of Hope is breaking the mold!! Whilewe know that Chester is celebrating Homecoming Weekend with Chester Senior High School, we’re bringing an experience that just feels right for the weekend: Almost Sunday: Gospel Karaoke! Everybody already knows Chester High Homecoming brings that HBCU Homecoming vibe. And let’s be honest, have you ever been to an HBCU Homecoming that didn’t include a Gospel Concert? Exactly! So The City decided to make it happen!
We’re inviting Gospel choirs, worship teams, praise teams, singing groups, and ministries from Chester and the surrounding areas to come be a part of an unforgettable night of Gospel music, fellowship, praise, and worship. This is your opportunity to bring your choir, bring your group, and most importantly, bring your SONG!
But let’s make this crystal clear: THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION! There will be no winners, no losers, and no trophies. This night is not about finding out who sings the best. It’s about bringing our voices together and creating an atmosphere where everybody can worship. Our guest hosts and guest “judges” are not coming to critique or rank anybody. They’re coming to encourage, engage, and help usher us into the presence of God. Because we’re not gathering to impress people. We’re gathering to worship!
Each participating choir or group must submit the title and artist of the song they will be ministering. Every song submitted will be added to the official Almost Sunday: Gospel Karaoke playlist, and the playlist will be made public one week before the event. So the worship starts before we ever get in the room! Listen to the playlist. Learn the songs. Share it with your church, family, and friends. Then come ready to SING! And yes, we know all that singing is going to work up an appetite! Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
This is Homecoming Weekend. This is Gospel music. This is the music that we play in our cars, clean our homes, cook our food, and get through some of our toughest seasons with. This is fellowship. This is worship. This is Almost Sunday......and THE CITY IS MAKING IT HAPPEN!
Choirs and groups, don’t just come to watch. COME PARTICIPATE! Bring your voices, bring your people, and bring the song that has something to say.
