We wrapped up our 4th year of LYO last night! We discussed each day of Holy Week, how the celebration started on Palm Sunday, a beautiful and joyful day! But then the week starts to go dark with betrayal. Jesus knew he was betrayed, but still washed feet and gave grace. Something that is nearly impossible for us to do right?! He then goes on to be brutally crucified, ridiculed, mocked and killed on Good Friday. A day of rest and waiting on Holy Saturday, but HE RISES on Sunday.
At LYO, we like to talk about Jesus like the person He was. We talk a lot about Him like he is walking around today. He was this phenomenal guy, sent here from God, and He was moving around helping people, healing people, performing literal miracles!! Naturally of course, He started to gain popularity and crowds would follow Him, seek Him!! Wouldn’t you?! Heck yea I would! But with good, sometimes comes animosity, resistance and envy. Sometimes good brings out the worst in people. We are all human, but Holy Week reminds us that even if you stick to the path, do good things, you might be ridiculed, you might be challenged. Jesus knows it won’t be easy. We aren’t given easy. But He wants us to stick the path, trust in Him, spread His message, and know that Sunday is coming!
Price is Right night to end our year!!!! A personal favorite of mine. Lots of laughs and excitement! Josie ended up winning the final showcase and took home the big prize!!
As always, sounding like a broken record, but we sure love these kids. They are great kids and we love having a group that comes together, talks about Jesus and has a little fun throughout the year! It has been the biggest blessing getting to know all of them and watching them grow through out the years! We couldn’t be more proud of them and will always remain their biggest supporters!
