Galilee Lutheran Church Galilee is a healthy, caring community in Christ reaching out with the Gospel to those around us.

Galilee is a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Church, located on Kent Island on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are a relatively small church, making us closer as a family of believers. But despite our size, we always strive to remain active both in ministry and in our community.

April 3rd, Good Friday - 3 PM
April 4th, Easter Sunday - 9AM
Our annual brunch will follow the Easter service.

Mid-week Lenten services - February 25th, March 4th, 11th, & 18th. There will be no service on March 25th.
All are welcome to join us.

Join us next Sunday, February 1st, at 9AM.
Fellowship following the service.

As promised, here’s a picture of our Christmas tree with all 84 brand new Crismons that the ladies of Galilee made. Great group effort!
The gentlemen of our congregation helped get the tree put together and hung wreaths, positioned the Advent candle stand & set up the Manger Scene.
I know it’s not Thanksgiving yet, but next week is the first Sunday in Advent & we wanted to be ready - what with Thanksgiving this week & all!

The Women’s Guild project is finished.
We had lamented the state of the Chrismons we’d been using on the church’s Christmas tree for 30+ years ( they were getting a bit tacky, truth be told ) as we denuded the tree last New Year’s Eve.
SO, we decided to make a whole set of new ones; white plastic canvas, acrylic wool, gold thread, needles & needle threaders were purchased. Designs were looked over, discussed and chosen & patterns printed out.
We did four of each of the 21 designs we picked and today ( Labor Day Sunday ), after coffee fellowship, we sat down and glued squares of white felt on the backs ( to hide the thread ends and general mess that comes with needlework projects ).
TA-DA!
We’re looking forward to using them this year & will, of course, post a grand picture of our tree this December! It’ll look spectacular!!

Pastor Belay & wife Rahel had 2! of their children graduating this year. Daughter Genet from the University of Maryland and son, Amanuel, from Kent Island High School.
A party for them was held at the church with dozens of friends & relatives attending.

The wonderful Spring weather in May got the Property Committee in high gear to do some outdoor maintenance. . . Well, arrange for the work to be done.
Starting with pressure washing the steeple, the front wall of the church and the cross.
Matt Didomencio - All hand power washing- did the job and the front wall & steeple look brand new!
Next was the parking lot. Ace Cooper - Accurate Asphalt - had his crew repair/fill the cracks and then sealed the whole parking lot, so it was shiny black & looked wonderful.
And finally, Rob Reed - Reed Striping - came over the bridge one evening and in 2 hours had all the parking space lines down, lines on the entrance & exits and bright new handicapped spaces done. It was fun watching them do that job!
