๐Ÿ™ A Labor Day Prayer for Our Parish Family ๐Ÿ™

On this Labor Day, we give thanks to God for the gift of work โ€” for the work that provides for our families, serves our communities, and helps us use the gifts God has given us.

Today, we especially remember St. Joseph, the humble carpenter who sanctified ordinary work through his love, faithfulness, and dedication to his family.

โค๏ธ May God bless all who work today, those seeking employment, parents whose work happens within the home, teachers, caregivers, first responders, and everyone whose daily efforts often go unseen.

St. Joseph the Worker, pray for us!

Lord, help us to see our daily work not simply as a responsibility, but as an opportunity to serve You and love others.

Have a blessed and restful Labor Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ™

For all our students in our parish returning to school this week and next:

Heavenly Father,

As we begin a new school year, we place ourselves and our children into Your loving hands.

Bless our minds, that we may learn with curiosity and wisdom.
Bless our hearts, that we may be kind, patient, and compassionate.
Bless our teachers, that they may have strength, understanding, and joy as they guide us.
Bless our classmates and friends, that we may encourage one another and always treat each person with dignity and love.

Lord Jesus, walk with us through every classroom, hallway, playground, and challenge. When we are nervous, give us courage. When we struggle, give us perseverance. When we succeed, keep us humble and grateful.

Help us to remember that every person we meet is made in Your image. May our words and actions reflect Your love.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
St. Joseph, patron of workers and students, pray for us.
Guardian Angels, watch over us and keep us safe.

May this school year bring us closer to You, help us grow in virtue, and give us many opportunities to learn, serve, and love.

We ask all this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed year!

Long before he wore the papal tiara, St. Gregory the Great lived a life of dramatic contrasts that swung from the pinnacle of Roman politics to the quiet solitude of a monastic cell. Born into immense wealth and high nobility, he initially climbed the civic ladder to become the Prefect of Romeโ€”the city's highest civil officialโ€”before suddenly walking away from secular power, selling his vast estates, and converting his family home into a monastery where he happily scrubbed floors and prayed. Even more fascinating is that when he was unanimously chosen to lead the entire Catholic Church in 590 AD, he was so horrified by the prospect of losing his peaceful, contemplative life that he disguised himself and fled the city, hiding out in a remote forest cave until a miraculous pillar of light allegedly gave away his location and forced him to accept the office that would change history.

O God, who care for your people with gentleness and rule them in love, grant, we pray, through the intercession of Pope St. Gregory, that the spirit of wisdom, given to the leaders of your Church, may offer a source of eternal joy for all your faithful. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
