On Saturday, May 30th, Trinity Wesleyan Church is hosting a joint choir worship night called, “Jesus: Center of It All” at 6:00 pm in its family life center. This is a free event open to everyone. Currently, there are 8 churches from the district represented (Trinity, Alive, Pickens View, Welcome, Eden, Bethany, Liberty and Kaleo), which is amazing!! If there are groups or individuals who want to sing with the joint choir, or if they have any questions, they can contact Dailey Segers at (864) 508-6244 or [email protected].

Pastor Donnie Massengill is being discharged to his home in Old Fort tomorrow. Continued prayers for his recovery after a lengthy hospital stay are much appreciated. Pastor Donnie, a member of our South Carolina District family, leads Old Fort Wesleyan Church, which suffered extensive damage after Hurricane Helene. Old Fort is located in the North Carolina West District.

The African Children’s Choir is Coming to Liberty! Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 7:00 pm, the internationally acclaimed African Children’s Choir will be performing at Pickens County Performing Arts Center, 314 W Main Street, Liberty. The African Children’s Choir is marking over four decades of transforming lives through the power of music, education, and hope. As they embark on a tour of more than 100 cities, the Choir will continue to captivate audiences with their heartwarming performances with a show that blends traditional hymns and African cultural sounds, while sharing stories of God’s faithfulness through joyful worship. Comprised of children ages 9 to 12, all from vulnerable backgrounds across Africa, the African Children’s Choir serves as a powerful testament to the resilience and potential of Africa’s future leaders. The Choir invites communities to experience their performances and be part of their mission to bring hope through music. No tickets are required, though donations are appreciated to continue the Choir’s impactful work.

Congratulations to South Carolina District pastor, Rev. Mike McClung, who was awarded the Virgil Mitchell Award for excellence in pastoral ministry in a ceremony this past Monday, April 13, at Southern Wesleyan University. Dr. Bill Barker, president at SWU, and Dr. Mark Wilson, who leads SWU’s religion department presented the award to Pastor Mike. The award is named in honor of Dr. Mitchell who served as general superintendent of The Wesleyan Church, and was also an impactful long-term pastor and district leader. He also served as chair of SWU’s board of trustees.

In addition to serving as Trinity Wesleyan Church’s lead pastor, Pastor Mike is an educator, SC District and community leader with over 30 years of ministry experience. Since 2014, he has served as Lead Pastor, providing visionary leadership and helping grow a thriving church with a strong connection to the Southern Wesleyan University community. He also serves as a Police Chaplain with both the City of Clemson and the Town of Central, offering care and support to local law enforcement. Mike is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University and holds a Master of Divinity from Wesley Seminary. Mike and his wife, Linda—also an ordained minister—have been married since 1995 and are blessed with three children who are faithfully serving the Lord.

Prayer warriors—Please continue to pray for Donnie Massengill. He is still in the hospital in Asheville recovering from heart surgery. This has been a long recovery for him. Donnie is one of our South Carolina District pastors on loan to Old Fort Church in North Carolina.

Please continue to pray for Pastor Michele HerrNeckar (Northeast WC) as she is heading back to the hospital due to an Afib episode. She recently experienced a heart attack and is being monitored.
