Refresh Church Following Jesus
Becoming Like Him
Doing What He Did

Jesse wasn't a king, a prophet, or anyone particularly famous. He was just an ordinary man from a small town called Bethlehem. Yet God chose his family line to bring forth the greatest King who would ever live. This reveals something beautiful about God's character - He doesn't need your resume to be impressive. He doesn't require you to have the right connections or come from the right family. God delights in choosing ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. Maybe you feel overlooked, unqualified, or insignificant. Perhaps you think your background disqualifies you from being used by God. But Jesse's story reminds us that God's selection process is different from the world's. He looks at the heart, not the headlines. He sees potential where others see problems. Your ordinary life, your humble beginnings, your simple faith - these aren't obstacles to God's plan. They're exactly what He loves to work with. When God uses ordinary people, it's clear that the power comes from Him, not from human greatness.

Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.

Life has a way of cutting us down to what feels like nothing. Maybe it's a broken relationship, a lost job, a health crisis, or a dream that died. You look at your circumstances and see only devastation - a stump where something beautiful once grew. But God sees something entirely different. Where you see an ending, He sees a beginning. Where you see destruction, He sees preparation for new growth. The prophet Isaiah spoke of a shoot coming from Jesse's stump, a promise that seemed impossible when Israel was broken and exiled. Yet from that unlikely place, the Messiah would emerge. Your current stump - whatever it represents - isn't your final chapter. God specializes in bringing life from dead places. He takes what looks finished and makes it the foundation for something extraordinary. The very thing that appears to disqualify you might be exactly what God wants to use. Don't let the enemy convince you that your story is over just because you've been cut down. God isn't finished with you yet.

'A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.' - Isaiah 11:1

When everything looks destroyed and finished, remember this truth: Jesus is still moving in your life! Even when you can't see Him working, He's actively at work beneath the surface. Don't let the enemy convince you it's over - there's still hope, there's still Jesus! www.refreshchurchcc.com
