Group Questions for Sunday’s Sermon
Generation to Generation - Week 2
May 18, 2026
*These questions are designed to help you dive deeper into Sunday’s message. You can do them on your own or with a group.
Big Idea:
Because of the grace of God through Jesus Christ, we can live with the assurance that we belong to Him, remembering His promises through Communion and Baptism as signs of His saving grace.
Scripture:
Romans 8:14–17
1 John 4:19
Romans 5:1
Romans 6:1–4 (referenced specifically verse 4)
Communion passages referenced from the words of Jesus:
Matthew 26:26–28
Luke 22:19–20
1 Corinthians 11:23–26
Discussion: (Don’t rush, you may not get through them all)
1. What does it mean to “remember your baptism”?How can baptism remind us daily of our identity in Christ even years later?

2. Why do you think so many Christians struggle with assurance of salvation? What stood out to you from Romans 8:14–17 about being children of God?

3. The sermon says, “Before you ever sought God, God was seeking you.”How have you seen God’s prevenient grace at work in your own life before you fully surrendered to Him?

4. How does Communion strengthen your faith and assurance? What does it mean to you that Communion is a “means of grace” and not just a symbol?

5. The sermon says assurance is not confidence in ourselves, but confidence in Christ. How does that truth help us when we struggle with doubt, guilt, or failure?
ACCOUNTABILITY:
-Did you love like Jesus this week?
-Did you nourish your soul this week?
-Are you taking care of your body to honor God?
-Did you honor God with your time, talents, and treasures?
-Who are you praying for to know Jesus?
-What did I get? GET IT…
-What did I learn? LEARN IT…
-How does this change me? LIVE IT…
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your amazing grace that pursued us long before we ever pursued You. Thank You for loving us, forgiving us, and calling us Your children through Jesus Christ.
Lord, remind us today that our assurance is not found in our own strength, but in Your faithfulness. When doubt comes, help us trust Your promises. When guilt overwhelms us, remind us of the cross. When we feel far from You, let Your Holy Spirit testify again to our hearts that we belong to You.
Thank You for the gift of Communion that reminds us Christ’s body was broken and His blood was shed for us. Thank You for baptism, the sign that we are washed, claimed, and made new through Your grace.
As we leave today, help us walk as sons and daughters of God—confident in Your love, faithful in our witness, and surrendered to Your Spirit.
May our lives point others to Jesus Christ, who still saves, restores, and makes all things new.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
