What a beautiful afternoon to plant potatoes! This year our labor was dramatically cut as the tractor did the hard work of digging and covering the potatoes. All we had to do was drop them in the furrow! The work was done in a fraction of the normal time so the volunteers knocked out a few other chores on our list!
Thanks to all who came out to help!

It’s that time again! Potato planting!!!
We’ll be meeting at the garden at 1PM tomorrow- Friday 3/20 to get the seed potatoes in the ground.

We’re using a new technique for planting this year which should be less labor intensive- so feel free to join us!

An absolutely perfect morning to get back into the garden to harvest collards and kale! Just when you think these crops are slowing down, they surprise you with more bounty!

The garlic, planted last fall, is thriving but still has a long way to go before we can harvest it.

Hopefully next week we’ll be planting potatoes if this beautiful weather holds.

This ministry wouldn’t happen without this level of dedication. We are truly blessed by this ecumenical group of gardeners!

The garden has switched gears and is now producing delicious fall vegetables. Carrots, Romaine lettuce, Turnips, Kale and Collards are now being harvested for our pantries.

Part of the garden will be over-seeded with winter rye to give some areas a rest but also to help add nutrients to the soil.

So while it looks like not much is happening, there’s always something going on!

And another with a few changes.

Sweet potatoes are so healthy with lots of Vitamin C, Vitamin A and potassium. They are also a great source of fiber and good for eye health, immune function and blood sugar stabilization.

This sweet potato seasoning made with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, and brown sugar adds fantastic flavor to roasted potatoes.
