During the Easter season, the Church celebrates not just a single day, but 50 days of resurrection joy, and what better guide for living that joy than St. Francis of Assisi?

On this episode of Talking Catholic, cohosts Mike Walsh and Jen Mauro welcome Fr. Jason Rocks, Chancellor of the Diocese of Camden and pastor of Holy Eucharist Cherry Hill, for a conversation on how Catholics can live the Easter season more intentionally; and how the witness of St. Francis still speaks powerfully to the Church today.

Father Rocks reflects on the meaning of the 50 days of Easter as a time to continue walking with the risen Christ through prayer, Scripture, Eucharist, and community life. He also explores what made St. Francis such a transformative figure, not simply his poverty or love of nature, but the fact that “Jesus was the reality he lived by.” That same call, he explains, remains at the heart of the Christian life today.

The conversation also touches on listening as a spiritual practice, recognizing “threshold moments” for evangelization, finding holiness in ordinary work, and responding to God’s grace in everyday life. Whether you’re looking for practical ways to deepen your Easter faith or fresh inspiration from Franciscan spirituality, this episode offers encouragement to become a light of Christ in the world right where you are.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

My husband Ron and I have it on our hearts to invite our fellow parishioners to join us and Father Dean Gaudio next October, on a sacred pilgrimage of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal to Medjugorje and the holy shrines of Croatia (October 14–23, 2026).

This pilgrimage will be the realization of a long-held dream of ours (& in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary, praise God!). Rather than joining a commercial tour, we felt called to share this sacred journey with our parish family, in the hopes of establishing relationships, strengthening our church community, and growing together in faith, to fulfill God’s Holy purpose in our lives.

We will walk where countless pilgrims have encountered peace and conversion, visit sites rich in Marian devotion and Catholic heritage, and celebrate daily Mass together in the beauty of Croatia’s sacred landscapes. Whether you’ve longed to visit Medjugorje or join a pilgrimage of spiritual renewal, we would be honored to have you travel with us on this spiritual adventure.

If you have any questions or would like to see the itinerary, please contact John Mattras with Franciscan Spirit Catholic Tours at 646-736-7964.

Most Sincerely,

Catherine Harrison-

Holy Eucharist Parishioner for 28 years

On Nov. 4, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith released a new Doctrinal Note, Mater Populi Fidelis (“Mother of the Faithful People”), which reflects on Mary’s cooperation in the work of salvation. The note serves to clarify and guide, not to define Catholic teaching—rather, it seeks to enrich and complement Marian devotion.

“Mater Populi Fidelis," then, strives to illuminate how Mary cooperated in the work of our salvation. It develops both Mary’s objective cooperation as well as her continued influence on the community of believers – the Church.

It begins beautifully:

“The Mother of the Faithful People of God is viewed with affection and admiration by Christians because, since grace makes us like Christ, Mary is the most perfect expression of Christ’s action that transforms our humanity.” ( #1)

These two themes are central to the document: Mary’s motherhood of the faithful and Mary’s cooperation with the grace of Christ.
