is expressing his sorrow over the loss of life and devastation caused by the devastating floods in .

In an Aug. 27 telegram sent on behalf of the Holy Father, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said the Pope was “saddened to learn of the loss of life and devastation” caused by the floods.

The Pope offered his heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones and assured all those affected of his spiritual closeness. He also prayed for emergency personnel involved in the ongoing rescue efforts, invoking God’s assistance and protection upon all affected by the tragedy.

Let us join the Holy Father and pray for those who have lost their lives, their families and all those affected by the floods, and for the emergency personnel working to rescue and assist those in need.
