Two Corona Prayers

A HEALTH CARE WORKER’S PRAYER

Eternal One, God of all people,

Be with me as I care for the sick and the dying.

Keep me strong and clear minded

At this time of uncertainty and danger.

Help me to be the healer I want to be

And keep me, my coworkers, family and friends

Safe, strong and courageous.

Bless me, Eternal One,

With your healing presence and with inner strength. Amen.

A PRAYER ON BEHALF OF HEALTH CARE WORKERS

Eternal One, God of all people,

We are grateful for those who take care of us everyday

In hospitals, retirement communities and clinics.

We are grateful for our EMS workers, policemen and firemen

Who daily respond to our emergencies and our crises.

At this unprecedented moment of global pandemic

We pray for the wellbeing of all our health care workers

In all lands and all places of care and concern.

Bless those who have spent their lives training and sacrificing

To be our guardians at the front line of health and hope

For extraordinary efforts to contain and treat the Coronavirus.

Give our health care workers the strength and courage to continue their work.

Inspire those who are responsible to supply them with medicine and proper gear

To give them what they need

To do what they must to help, protect, heal and encourage the rest of us.

Bless their families, loved ones and friends

With strength and courage

And fill their hearts with our thanks for their sacrifices.

Protect our health care workers from bodily harm

And keep their spirits up.

Help them to remain compassionate even in the face of personal danger

And bring them home safely to those they love

When they are done their shift and try to rest

for the next unprecedented round of caring.

We pray for the day

When we are delivered from the COVID challenge

And we can return to the normal world of

Daily life and all its complexities, wonders and hope,

Where healing is possible

And healers are beloved for what they always do and are no longer called upon to be soldiers

At the battlefront for the survival of humanity.

Bless all of us, Eternal One, with strength, courage and wisdom. Amen

Dear All, As our Christian friends observe Lent, and our Jewish and Muslim friends are looking to the beginning of Passover and Ramadan, respectively, we are all aware of counts -- of days and periods of time. We in the Jewish world just completed reading of the book of Exodus in our cycle of Torah readings, with Pekudei, the Parsha that reminds us of the need to take account of each other and watch out for all in our community. As we all deal with this strange time, let us remember not just to count and take account of days and hours and periods of time, but each other -- checking in and connecting with each other in whatever creative ways we can. Wishing all blessings and health and safety.

Have a blessed day - Salaam Aleikum - and Shalom Aleichem

Dear Sunnie,

Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light is in the good company of the hundreds of organizations, groups, congregations and networks turning to virtual gatherings, continuing our important work on the climate crisis, connecting with one another, while also flattening the curve to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Here are upcoming opportunities to join with us as we support one another through these changing, challenging days.

For the last several years, we have invited our friends to create events across the state to celebrate Earth Hour, an annual opportunity to gather together, power down, and celebrate the wonder of our planet through song, prayer, poetry and candlelight (or solar-powered lanterns!).
This year, given the limitations of meeting in person, we will gather virtually Saturday, March 28th, 7:45-8:30 pm — all across the state, and beyond. Please join us - registration is required and free (and we also welcome your donations in this time when small nonprofits such as PA IPL are particularly vulnerable).
After our virtual gathering, we encourage you to either carry on with your own Earth Hour activities (while of course practicing social distancing!), or stay online with us as we engage in the practices of the Work That Reconnects. We will be offering virtual practice opportunities every Tuesday evening starting March 31st. Please join us!

Are you receiving our Daily Sustenance emails, a short message with a poem, image or link to sustain our spirits, in your inbox every noontime? Make sure you have [email protected] in your trusted contacts.

Our Sustained Advocacy work continues, and you can listen in to our monthly update call this Thursday, March 26th, 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Not subscribed to our reminders and follow-up summary? Send a note to [email protected] to be added to the list.

Stay well, and be in touch –

Good Morning. I note that a few people have responded to this brand new page, which by the way, I am still trying to figure out. I am hoping that people will use this to stay in touch, to share important teachings and just to remember that while we are all getting strength from our respective faith communities, the Cheltenham Area Multi-Faith Council is an important community of faiths as well. Please let's try to be in touch with each other. If we want we can actually do a live meeting on this page. Respond here or to my email at [email protected] if this interests you. Be well all and stay safe.

Dearest All, So as with all of you, I am working from home in social isolation. I have managed to reframe a lot of my programming into an on-line or cyber format. The one piece of my life that I have not been able to do up to now is the important Interfaith Work we do in the Cheltenham Area Multi-Faith Council. It occurs to me, that by creating this new page, we can be in contact with each other. I know many of our own faith communities are creating all types of virtual experiences, so let's commit to doing the same. Any questions that you wish to ask me can be sent to my email at [email protected] and lets be in discussion. I can use Face Time, Zoom or this format -- whatever works for all of us.

Stay safe, stay healthy and stay in touch....

Be well all,

Sunnie Epstein
