Nativity of the Ever-Virgin Mary Romanian Orthodox Church Boston

Nativity of the Ever-Virgin Mary Romanian Orthodox Church Boston We are an Orthodox Christian community of Romanian background, who welcomes anyone desiring to follow Jesus Christ and His Holy Church.

We are located only 15 minutes away from downtown Boston. Weekly services are held on Sundays, starting 9:30 am. The Romanian Orthodox mission “The Nativity of the Ever-Virgin” ("St Mary's") located in Chelsea, MA was established in the fall of 2003, at the initiative of Romanian Orthodox faithful from the Boston area, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathanael, the ruling hierarch of

the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America. Fr Liviu Alexandrescu was appointed as the first priest of the mission and faithfully served our community between 2003 and 2007, before moving to Montreal, Canada. In 2008, Fr Narcis Stoica began his service at St Mary’s. During his worthy tenure, he proved himself to be both a loving spiritual father and a good administrator. His love, patience, availability, and determination will be always remembered by those who knew him. In addition, he managed to bring financial stability to our community and, most importantly, purchase the church building that we were previously renting out from the Orthodox Russian community in Chelsea, MA. Following Fr Narcis's untimely passing in October 2021, Fr Tudor Sambeteanu became our pastor in December 2021. We warmly welcome you in our midst!

Dear Ones,

Please know that the Resurrection service this evening will begin at 11:45 PM -- we encourage you to make every effort to remain for the entire Paschal service through the night.

Further, here are some important guidelines as we prepare for the most important night of the year:

1. Parking Information

We will have a procession around the church, so we kindly ask that you do not park in the two driveways when you arrive.

Once the procession is over (around 12:15 AM), you may park in the back of the church and in the two driveways.

IMPORTANT: We are recommending the following parking options:

Street parking on Washington Avenue (allowed until 2:00 AM).

Chelsea City Hall public parking lot (4–5 minutes from church) — parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.

Chelsea High School situated at 265 Carter Street, Chelsea, MA, across the gym. (This is a 8-10 minutes walk from church.)

Public parking lot across from the High School on Crescent Street (2–3 minutes from church).

Street parking on adjacent streets (a prayer to St. Phanourios always helps!).

2. Agape Vespers

On Sunday at 1:00 PM, we will celebrate the beautiful service of Agape Vespers, where the Gospel is read in multiple languages to proclaim the truth of Christ’s Resurrection.

3. Meals After Services

With the fast coming to an end, we kindly ask everyone to bring their favorite dish to church.

There will be two meals:

First meal: A light repast on Pascha early morning, immediately following the Divine Liturgy.

Second meal: After Agape Vespers — a proper, sit-down meal. Everyone is invited to both!

In His Holy Resurrection,
+ Fr Tudor and the Parish Council
