Southland Tractor & Outdoors LLC is on board to help sponsor the First Annual Will Roberts National Kidz Outdoors Rodeo at Hargis Christian Camp on October 23rd & 24th. Southland and the Mundy family have always been willing to lend a hand at the camp. We even purchased a fantastic Kioti tractor from them last year. We have been planning on hosting a trade days type of event at Hargis Christian Camp for several years. After a local ministry canceled with us earlier this year we now have a weekend open.

Mark your calanders for the 1st Annual Shelby County Trade Days coming this October 17th at the camp. This will be a Tannehill type of environment, but also have a yard sale feel to it. Local vendors, businesses and boutiques, arts and crafts. But we are also allowing individuals to set up their personal items much like a yard sale. There are limitations on the footprint of the booths. (20'x10') This will be a yearly event that we are sure will grow every October. We are hoping for 100 plus booths on year one. Food trucks and Ice Cream will be on site. We can only take so many food vendors, but merchandise vendors are unlimited. For more information, and to register, email [email protected]

(We are aware of the marketplace that is already scheduled that day by the city. We reached out to them earlier this week. We are going to promote their event as well. Hopefully people will make a day of it going to both locations since we are just a few miles apart.)

Men's Night at Hargis Christian Camp is back! We held our first men's night last year at the camp. We didn't know what to expect as far as response, but it far exceeded expectations. We had over 500 men show up for a night of great food, fellowship, games, worship and a great word. (Not to mention over 500 pieces of candied bacon 🥓)

The door prizes were insane. A brand new 30-06 r***e, golf clubs, fishing poles, chain saws, a whole pallet of deer corn and more. We are expecting this year's to far exceed. The biggest blessing of the night was packing out the worship center wall to wall with men worshipping together. Such a powerful night. Save the date. Call some friends and relatives. We look forward to seeing you there.

Liberty Baptist was out at the camp yesterday afternoon for their annual picnic. This is our 3rd straight year to host our friends from LBC. They are led well by Pastor Tim Cox who just celebrated his 28th year in his role. It was a time of fun, fellowship and lake baptisms.

We are well over 200 baptisms for the spring and summer seasons. It has been a beautiful thing to watch!

We have been holding off on announcing this for a while as we have been working behind the scenes to get everything set up. We have several public events every year at the camp. Christmas At The Camp, Lakeside Ressurection Sunrise Service, The Daddy/Daughter Dance and Men's Night. We are now adding one more to our regular yearly calander, and it will be a good one.

In October we will host our first rodeo weekend.

We have decided to name it after a very special person, young Will Roberts. His life was a testimony for so many and he loved National Kidz Outdoors. So we are partnering with them and our friends at 3R Rodeo Company to bring you the 1st Annual Will Roberts National Kidz Outdoors Rodeo. All proceeds go to National Kidz Outdoors to help them do all that they do for the kids year round.

Mark your calander for two nights of fun under the stars at Hargis Christian Camp. Let's show up in big numbers and have a great time with our favorite rodeo crew, honoring Will and sharing our faith. Many of the Kidz Outdoors families will be staying at the camp for a whole weekend of relaxation and fun.

28 states & 8 different countries in the past two years. One of our goals from the onset of Hargis Christian Camp was to Make Jesus Known to all of the nations. We have seen the Lord move right here in Chelsea Alabama in the lives of people from all over our country and the world. From Burma to Niger to Ecuador, Belize and Zambia and the Middle East, God has done an incredible work right here in Shelby County. One of our favorite connections that has been so consistent is a local Latino church, Iglesia Jesucristo Divino Salvador. They were out with us again this past weekend for a church service and picnic. One of the most beautiful sounds you will ever hear is the sound of someone in another language worshipping the same God you do. Pastor Andres Ricaldy and his sweet church members have become family to us over the past few years. They have done over 50 lake baptisms here at the camp. God is doing a mighty work worldwide and we are blessed to partner in it!

Update:

We are currently at a stand-still on the sports complex project.

Forestry Environmental Services has done an amazing job on getting all the groundwork done. The irrigation systems, tree removal and site work has been top notch. We couldn't be more grateful.

We were honored to host this sweet group of kids and leaders from The Station Church in McCalla. We have known Pastor Randy Norris from before we ever started the camp. And Ms. Jan Renfroe always does an amazing job with the kids. Jesus was Made Known for sure!

One of our favorite retreats to host each year is The Forge Retreat. We had them back with us this past week. This retreat is designed to connect incoming college students who are believers with other believers, ministries and churches. Incoming freshmen students camp with us and are hosted by upperclassmen for 3 days. There is worship, fellowship, discipleship and always a ton of fun.

On Saturday they host a 'ministry fair' in Wright Auditorium. Ministries from around UAB, Samford and other local college campuses set up booths in the auditorium to try and connect incoming students with churches and other on-campus Christian organizations. Its is a way for Hargis to partner with the local colleges to Make Jesus Known on their facilities.
